HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-17-1976 �. `7/ BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, NOVEMBER 17, 1976 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in regular session November 17, 1976 at the hour of 3 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Reinke 4 presided with Mr. Meredith and Mr. Webb present. The following 5 business was had, to-wit: 6 7 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting 8 as corrected, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the 9 motionwas carried. 10 11 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the -recommendation of Chief Charles 12 Chris to accept the resignation of Michael Toschlog as a probationary 13 patrolman of the Richmond Police Department effective November 17 , 14 1976, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion 15 was carried. 16 17 Mr. Meredith moved to instruct Chief Chris to write specifications 18 and have the Clerk advertise for bids to be accepted for December 19 9 at 9:00 a.m. for a multi-channel communication logging tape 20 recorder for the Police Department, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 21 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 22 23 Chief Chris announced there will be a public auction of property 24 collected-by the Police Department at the-Police Garage with a 25 tentative date on December llth.. Chief Chris will check with an 26 auctioneer to see if this time can be obtained. 27 28 Sgt. Ron Williams reported: his department made a study of handi- 29 capped parking in housing areas on October 12. Nine (9) handicapped 30 people have -obtained handicapped license plates in Richmond from the 31 Bureau of Motor Vehicles . Signs will be erected in front of resi- 32 deuces of persons qualifying for parking for their use only. Mr. 33 Webb movedto accept the procedures outlined by Sgt. Williams, 34 seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 35 carried. 36 37 Mr. Meredith moved to approve Sgt. Williams recommendati-on to install 38 twelve (12) 1-hour parking stalls on the East side of the 1st block 39 of South 6th Street in front of Elder-Beerman and the city parking 40 lot, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 41 carried. 42 43 Mr. Webb moved to approve Sgt. Williams' request to prohibit parking 44 on NW "K" Street except for three (3) parking spaces on the south 45 side next to KB Laminates , seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous 46 voice vote the motion was carried. 47 48 Sgt. Williams reported his department made -a traffic count of truck 49 traffic on N.W. 18th Street to determine if any solution could be 50 arrived to alleviate this situation. . There appears to be no solution 51 to the problem. 52 53 Mr. Webb moved to approve the curb cut request of Rick Freeman for 54 415 South 17th Street which has the approval of the Plan, Traffic 55 and Engineering Departments, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous 56 voice vote the motion was carried. 57 58 Mr. Curt McDaniel , representing the German students at Richmond High 59 School requested permission for this group to sell advent calendars 60 after school and on week-ends on the Promenade from November 19 to 61 December 1 . Mr. Meredith moved to approve this request subject to 62 approval of the Park Department, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous 63 voice vote the motion was carried. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd November 17, 1976 Page 2. 1 Mr. Meredith moved to accept the withdrawal of Bob Goodwin for a 2 change of name of Williamsburg Pike, seconded by Mr. Webb and on 3 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Goodwin reported 4 the problem could be solved by exits off of I-70 being numbered 5 and signed. 6 7 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and 8 passed th.e meeting was adjourned. 9 10 11 Robert L.
