HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-05-1976 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDI'ANA, AUGUST 5 , 1976 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular 2 s"essi:on August 5, 1976 at the hour of9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building in said City. 3 Mr. Reinke presided with Mr. Meredith and Mr. Webb present. The following business was 4 had, to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Meredith 7 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Charles Roberts, Bureau of Buildings , reported that Mr. Sherman Fleming had not 10 picked up the registered letter sent to him by Mr. Roberts from the Post Office. Notice 11 had been left at Mr. Fleming's residence for him to pick up and sign for the letter. 12 The Clerk reported she had mailed an unregistered letter to Mr. Fleming on July 29 13 informing him to appear before this Board on August 5; 1976. Mr. Reinke asked that the 14 Clerk check the status of delivery of this letter and report back to him. 15 16 City Engineer George Webb reported the bid estimate for the Airport drainage is in order. 17 Mr• Webb then moved to request Common Council for an appropriation of fifty thousand 18 dollars ($50,000.00) to complete the subsurface drainage needs at the Airport, seconded 19 by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 20 21 Chief of Police Charles Chris requested Edwin D. Coble be appointed a Special Officer 22 (Security Guard) with powers limited to the Greenwood Apartments and grounds , effective 23 August 5, 1976. 24 2.5 Mr. Meredith moved approval of this request, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice 26 Vote the motion was carried. 27 28 City Engineer George Webb stated $3,500.00 has been appropriated for the sanitary sewer 29 extension for Dana Parkway. Several contractors have been contacted. Mike Delucio has 30 . given the best bid and will be given the contract. Mr. Webb moved the Board of Works 31 enter into a contract with Mike Delucio for $3,160.60 for the sanitary sewer extension 32 along Dana Parkway on approval from the State, seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous 33 voice vote the motion was carried. 34 . 35 Mr. Webb presented a request from the State of Indiana to relinquish to the City from 36 the State a frontage road which runs .pparallel to I-70 (known as West Cart Road) from 37 U. S. 27 east for 3/4 mile. Mr. Meredith moved to defer action on this request until 38 August 12, 1976, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 39 40 Bids were accepted for two 1976 police equipped solo motorcycles. Mr. Meredith moved to 41 accept and file proof of publication , seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote 42 the motion was carried. The following bid was recorded: 43 44 John Carter, Carter Cycle Center unit price $3,494. 15 45 total price 6,988. 30 46 alternateefor. l demo. 3,344.00 47 48 Mr. Webb moved taking this bid under advisement for study and recommendation , seconded by 49 Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 50 51 Mr. Meredith moved to introduce an ordinance to Common Council to change the names of 52 N. W. "V' Street from Williamsburg Pike to Rich Road to the name of Rich Road, to extend 53 Sheridan Street on the portion of the present Rich Road that runs west from the present 54 Sheridan Street and to change the name of Rich Road that runs north and south to N. W. 55 llth. Street, seconded by Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 56 57 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed the meeting was 58 adjourned. 59 60 Robert L.
