HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-03-1976 ,71oS BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, I:NDI'ANA, JUNE 3, 1976 1 The Board of Public Works. and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular-session June 3, 1976 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the_ . 3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr.. Meredith presided in the absence 4 of Mr. Reinke with Mr. Webb present. The following business was had, 5 to-wit:, . . 6 - 7 Mr. Webb moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded . 8 by- Mr. Meredith and- on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. III 10 Ch.ief•Williams of the Centerville Police Department presented'certifi:cater 11 of appreciation for Richmond's help throughout the past years, especial- 12 ly on May 12, 1976. Certificates were presented to Mayor Di'ckman ,• Chief 13 Gibbs , the Police reserves, Mr. Haynes of the Street Department, Mr. Mc- 14 Bride o.f the Park. Department; Mr. Null. of the Park. Department and Mr. 15 Huffman of RP&L. . . - . - 16 17 Chief Gibbs. presented a letter of resignation from Officer Jon Chilcoate. 18 to become effective June 2, 1976 for personal reasons. 19 20 Mr. Meredith moved acceptance of this resignation , seconded by Mr. : Webb 21 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. .. 22 .. 23 Chief Gibbs presented a request that Sgt. Delbert Davis be sent to the 24 IIndiana Law E:nforcement. Academy, Plainfield, Indiana, on June 28th to 25 July 9th., 1976 to attend the Firearms; Instructors. Course. 26 27 Mr. Webb moved acceptance of. this request,. seconded by Mr. .Mered.ith. and 28 on unanimous; voice vote the motion was; carried. 29 30 The Board just received a contract to approve Old Richmond, 'presented 31 through Community Development and as they have not had time to study this 32 document, Mr. .Meredith moved taking it under advisement, seconded by Mr. 33, Webb and on unanimous; voice vote the motion was carried. . 34 .. . . . 35 A contract between the Board of Commissioners of Wayne County-and the 36 Board of Works of Richmond, Indiana for the Salisbury Road Sewer Project 37 was presented. The contract agrees:that the City shall enter into the 38 contract with the contractor. Mr. Meredith announced the County Board of 39 Commi'ssioners. had signed the. contract on Tuesday, June 1st, at their 40 meeting. 41 42 . Mr. Webb moved acceptance of contract with County, seconded by Mr. Meredith 43 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 44 45 Mr. Dale Jacobs presented the contract between the Board of Works and 46. the contractor. Mr. Meredith announced that State approval has been '47 - received by both. the City and County. 48 • 49 Mr. Webb moved acceptance of the. contract between the City and Eastern 50 Indi:ana Asphalt, seconded by Mr. Meredith. and on unanimous voice vote the 51 motion was carried. 52 53 Specs have been drawn for bids for gasoline, diesel tfuel and Street 54 Department materials. 55 . 56. Mr. Meredith moved the Clerk advertise for bids on these materials to be 57 received on June. 24, 1976, in order to have them-covered'under contract 58 for the following year, seconded by- Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote 59 the motion was carried. 60 61 Mr. Charles Roberts presented his report from the Bureau of Buildings for 62 the month of May, 1976. Board of Works Minutes Cont' d June 3, 1976 Page 2 1 Mr. Meredith moved approval of this report, seconded by Mr. [ ebb and on 2 unanimous-voice vote the motion was carried. 3 4 Mr. Bob Beck, N.R. 5th, presented a petition from residents in the area, 5. for permission to close Peacock Road on Sunday, August 1 , 1976. from ima 6 11 :00 a.m. ,to 5:00 p.m. 'from N.tf. .5th to the alley.. This request was 7 denied :at the previous meeting. .' . 8. 9' Mr. Meredith moved.taking this matter under advisement until ' the next 10 meeting, seconded by Mr..
