HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-05-1976 • % 9 • • BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND`, INDIANA, MAY 5, 1976 1 The Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session May 5, 1976 , at the dour of 9:00 A,M. , in the 3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Reinke presided with Mr. Meredith 4 and Mr. Webb present. The following business was had, to-wit: 5 i 6 Mr: Webb moved to approve -the minutes of the previous meeting and special 7 meeting, seconded, by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion 8 was carried. 111 9 10 .Mr. Bohn Whalen , representing Harry Ray Post 65 of the American Legion 11 for the. Fireworks Committee for July 4, 1976; requested to restrict parking 12 the East side Of South 22nd Street from Main to No. '`D" , from noon to 13' 6:00 P.M. , and the use of the Fire Department, Police Department and 14 Auxiliary Police. The celebration will be enlarged this year for the Bi- 15 centennial Year and kill include a pioneer village and flea market. The 16 requested parking would be used for exhibitors.. Captain Loper reported 17 no problem as far as the Police Department is concerned.. 18 19 The Board deferred action on this request until. after Mr. Whalen can meet 20. with the park. Department, Police. Department and others. 21 22 Mr. Bruce Godsey, Principal of St. Mary's requested permission to turn 23 the alley by St. Mary's over to them so it can be closed off while children 24 are out. This is the alley located between 7th & 8th Streets dividing 25 property" of St. Mary's. Mr. Reinke advised Mr. Godsey that the City would- 26 - have to vacate the alley but would reserve utility and other usage rights. Z7 There would be some problem if the Fire Department :or other emergency 28 vehicles should have to use this alley. Mr. Godsey will inform St. Mary's 29 of th.e. situation and return to the Board, which took this action under 30 adyt ;erient. until such time. 31 • III32_ - .. Mr. george. Webb reported on the contract signed with Mote Construction and 33 the City to construct a detention basin along South 16th between So. "L" 34 and Wernle Road. He presented a change order #1 which allows contractors 35 to start construction May 10, 1976. 36 37 Mr. Webb moved to sign change order #1 , seconded by Mr. Meredith and on 38 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 39 40 Mr. Charles Roberts presented his report from the Bureau of Buildings for 41 the month of April , 1976. 42 43 Mr. Dale Jacobs, Jacobs and Maze, presented blueprints and specs. for the 44 Salisbury Road sanitary sewer. This project was approved by Common Council • 45 on May 3, 1976. The cost to the City will be from College Corner Road to 46 the corner of Peacock and Salisbury Road. The County will then puck up 47 the sewer. Construction should be completed by July 15, 1976. 48 49 The Board of Works will advertise, to receive bids for May 21st at 9:00 50 A.M. at a special meeting. Mr. Jacobs recommends one contract -. one bid. 51 52- Mr. Webb moved approval of plans and specs by Jacobs and Maze , seconded 53 by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 54 555 There being no further business , on motion duly made , seconded and passed 56 the meeting was adjourned. 57 • 58 .
