BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND -SAFETY OF 'THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, APRIL 22 , 1976
1 The Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of Richmond,
2 Indiana, met in regular session April 22, 1976, at the hour of _
3 - . 9:00 A.M. in the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Reinke
4 presided with Mr. Meredith and Mr. .Webb present. The following
5 business was .had, to-wilt:

7 Mr. Webb moved to approve'the' minutes of the previous meeting,
8- seconded by Mr. Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion
9 was carried.

11 • Mr. Tim Ryder, Community Development Director, presented Resolution
12 - _ No. 7-1976 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS, CITY OF
13 RICHMOND, INDIANA, DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT APPROVING -
14 the use of local option funds of the Community Development Block _
15 Grant as- the local matching share for Title XX funds under the
16 Social Security Act.

18 Mr. Ryder explained the funds from the federal government are
19 available providing a local share provides 25% match for this fund.
20 Family Service wishes to apply for a Big Brother and Big Sister
21 Program and the YMCA in conjunction with Housing Authority wish to
22 . apply for a Youth Recreational Development Program., Money Richmond
23 can receive requires $6,000 local funds and these two (2) requests -
24 total a little more' than $6,000.

26 Speaking for this; Resolution were William Taylor, Family Service,
27 David Blackman , YMCA, John Fienni'ng, Housing Authority, and the_
28 Mayor.

30 Mr. Webb moved adoption .of Resolution 7-1976, seconded by Mr.
31 Meredith and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried

33 Mr: Meredith. moved to deny the request for a curb cut from Mike
34 Shipley at 22 No. 21st, .seconded .by. Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice
35 vote the motion was carried.

-37 Mr. Charles Roberts, Bureau of Buildings ,. requested permission to
38 remove and 'put. a lien on property at 727 'North 19th Street, which
39 is oWned by the County. The oott would be under $500.00 to tear
40 it down. The County Would be billed for demolition.

42 Mr. Meredith moved the' Bureau of Buildings proceed with demolition
43 of the dwelling which .i's owned by' the County, seconded by Mr. Webb
44 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was. carried.

46 Mr. Webb read a request from Richmond Power and Light and the Street
47 Light Committee of Common Council requesting 4 new street lights be
48 . installed .and 1 relocated on No. 36th Street and installation of 4
• 49 lights on South. 14th between "U" -Street and the city limits and 1
50 light on "U" between 13th and 14th.

52 Mr. Meredith moved taking this request under advisement, seconded by
53 Mr. Webb and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

55 In regards to matters presented to the Board at Common Council , the
56 following was announced:

58 1 . Mr. Meredith will investigate the shoulders of So. "L" ;
59 ' . south of 22nd and 21st Streets. -
60 2. -Mr. Webb will investigate North "J".
61 • . 3. . Innovative ways to solve Firefighters problems without
62 additional expenditures. Anyone with any ideas, please
