HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-11-1976 BOARD OF PUBLIC FORKS. & SAFETY OF THE CLTY OF RLCHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 11 , 1976 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 2 Indiana, met in :regular session March 11 , 1976, at the hour of 3 9:00 A.M. , in the Municipal Building in said City. Mr.- Reinke 4 presided with Mr. Meredith present. Mr. Webb was absent as he 5 is attending a "Road School" at Purdue University. The follow- -- 6 ing business was had, to-wit: III 78 Mr. Meredith moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, 9 seconded by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous voice vote the motion. was J 10 carried. 11 12 Mr. Robert Ripple requested use of the Promenade for the annual 13 Lions Club. Flea Market to be held July 18, 1976 from 6 a.m. to 6 14 p.m. They will need no facilities and will do their own cleaning up. 15 16 Mr. Meredith moved approval of this request, seconded by Mr. Reinke 17 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 18 19 Captain Scott Loper reported that one of the two property owners, 20 plus Mr. Roy Cates , had been contacted as to the restriction of 21 parking on South 13th Street on both sides in the block directly 22 South of "Q" Street to the railroad underpass. 23 24 Mr. Meredith moved approval of this restriction , seconded by Mr. 25 Reinke and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 26 27 The No Parking signs will be restored on South "Q" .Street, also. 28 29 K.B. Laminates requested closing of a portion of Northwest K Street. 30 III 31 Mr. Greg Merchanthouse, Council representative from this district, 32 requested an opportunity for the people living in the area to have a 33 chance to speak to the Board. 34 35 Mr. Meredith moved to take this closing under advisement, seconded 36 ' by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 37 38 The Curb Cut at 400 North 9th Street, was brought before the Board 39 for review. 40 41 A letter will be written to Mr. Wayne Miller, who requested the cut 42. on May 15, 1975, asking him to appear before the Board on March 18th 43 to show cause why he has not complied with the conditions under which 44 the curb cut was granted, specifically paving of a parking lot. 45 46 The matter of making the 500 block of North 19th Street one-way will 47 remain under advisement until March 18th meeting. 48 49 Captain Louis Gibbs brought a request for a police cruiser escort 50 for the Richmond High School basketball team to and from the regionals 51 to be held March 13th in New Castle. 52 • 53 Mr. Reinke moved approval of this request, seconded by Mr. Meredith 54 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 55 56 The Clerk gave- Proof of Publication for purchase of a 1976 3/4 ton III57 van for the Department of Weights and Measures. 58 59 , The following bids were received: Raper Sales in the amount of $5,133.00 60 or $5,112.00 for a 1 ton; Kurdy's Brookbank Chevrolet in the amount of 61 $4,940.00; Bowen- Olds GMC,INC. in the amount of $4,988.08; Fred First 62 Ford in the amount of $5,261 .27. Board of Works Minutes Cont'd March 11 , 1976 Page 2 • 1 These bids were taken under advisement. 2 3 Dr. George Blakey requested the use of the City Building Parking 4 Lot for Sunday, June 6th from 11 :00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. , to 5 display a limestone statue of Washington 's crossing of the 6 Delaware in observance of the Bicentennial . 7 8 Mr. Meredith moved approval of the request with the conditions 9 that Mr. Charles Roberts see that the parking lot is not damaged 10 and the Police Department give an escort for the truck both in 11 and out of Richmond, seconded by Mr. Reinke and on unanimous voice 12 vote the motion was carried. 13 14 There being no further business , on motion duly made and seconded, 15 • the meeting was adjourned. 16 17 Robert L.
