Sideris, Council President Watertown City Council Administration Building 149 Main Street Watertown, MA 02472 Phone: 617-972-6470 PROCLAMATION HONORING DEION HOWE ON BECOMING AN EAGLE SCOUT Vincent J.,Piccirilli,Jr., WHEREAS: Deion Howe, is a member of Troop 30, Watertown, Massachusetts BSA Vice President & Scouts; and District C Councilor John M. Airasian WHEREAS: Deion Howe, after completing all rank requirements and earning 25 merit Councilor At Large badges and the national outdoor achievement award in Aquatics and Camping, and having earned the patch for the mile swim, Deion earned the prestigious rank of eagle scout on Caroline Bays Councilor At Large April 12 >2022; and John G. Gannon, WHEREAS: The Eagle award will be presented to Deion Howe at the Eagle Scout Court Councilor At Large of honor ceremony in Watertown on April 30, 2022; and Anthony Palomba, WHEREAS: Deion joined Watertown's scouting tradition in 2015, joining the Artic Councilor At Large phoenix Patrol. His first badge was the Swimming merit badge, the first of six water -related Nicole Gardner, merit badges he's earned; and District A Councilor WHEREAS: Deion served as Den Chief to Pack 30, mentoring younger scouts who would Lisa J. Feltner, eventually join him in Troop 30. He served briefly as quartermaster, and then assistant District B Councilor senior patrol leader, and was elected Senior Patrol leader of the whole troop, a position he Emily Izzo, holds today; and District D Councilor WHEREAS: Deion served in numerous Scouting for Food drives supporting the Watertown Food Pantry, he was inspired to become a regular volunteer even outside scout service hours. In 2021 he led the troop through two food drives, collecting a combined 5 tons of food for the Watertown Food Pantry; and WHEREAS: As a Life Scout, Deion worked with his school, the Walker Beacon School, to create the "Beacon Chill Space," a paved and furnished patio that allows students at his special needs.school to have a place to relax outside. He completed this project by involving six scouts from his troop and one cub scout, showing them how to complete their own Eagle projects in the future. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Watertown hereby congratulates DEION HOWE ON BECOMING AN EAGLE SCOUT.
