HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-20-1975 /-? 3 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, NOVEMBER 20, 1975 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session November 20, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in 3 the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. Judge 4 and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Judge moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 7 by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Judge moved to submit to Council an ordinance to transfer $100.00 10 in the Bureau of Buildings Budget, seconded by Mr. Burton and on 11 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 12 13 Mr. Burton, upon recommendation of Fire Chief John Newland, moved to 14 advance Robert Guthrie to the rank of regular firefighter, effective 15 November 18, 1975, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote 16 the motion was carried. 17 18 Mr. Burton moved, upon recommendation of Chief Newland, to re-assign 19 Platoon Captain Donald Clark as a Lieutenant on the line effective 20 November 18, 1975, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote 21 the motion was carried. 22 23 Mr. Burton moved, upon recommendation of Chief Newland, to put into 24 effect the 50.4 hour work week effective November 20, 1975 as per the 25 Professional Negotiation Agreement between Local 1408, Richmond Profes- 26 sional Firefighters and the City of Richmond, Indiana, seconded by Mr. 27 Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 28 29 Chief Newland said he is reassigning the Fire Prevention Bureau into the 30 line work. This will give good inspection system and also good training 31 with the same number of men. 32 33 Mr. Burton moved to authorize Richard Freeman to sign three contracts 34 for final appraisals for five properties on Bridge Avenue, seconded 35 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 36 37 Mr. Burton moved to adopt the following amendments to the Rules and 38 Regulations of the Police Department of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 39 seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 40 carried: 41 42 AMENDMENT TO RULES AND REGULATIONS 43 OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA 44 45 Amend Article IV of Rules and Regulations adopted by the 46 Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, 47 Indiana, on March 30, 1972, by adding Sections 5 and 6. 48 49 SECTION 5. The personnel files of the members of the Police 50 Department shall be open for their inspection at reasonable 51 times in the office of the Chief of Police and under the con- 52 trol and supervision of the said Chief of Police. 53 54 SECTION 6. All part time off duty security job openings, 55 for which members of the Police Department are sought 56 and which are brought to the attention of the Chief of Police 57 shall be posted by the said Chief and shall be available 58 to be filled by said members upon the basis of seniority 59 with the Department. 60 61 Mr. Judge moved to set the next Board of Works meeting for Wednesday, 62 November 26, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, seconded 63 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 64 65 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and 66 passed, the meeting was adjourned. 67 68 Robert Burton 69 President 70 71 ATTEST: Margaret Mellen 72 Clerk of the Board
