HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-16-1975 2-/ BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA , OCTOBER 16 , 1975 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session October 16, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the 3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. Judge 4 and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 7 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 II 9 Mr. Wayne Miller appeared before the Board regarding the conditions for 10 approval of curb cut at 400 North 9th Street. He stated the reason he 11 had not complied by paving the parking area was because he did not have 12 the money. 13 14 Mr. Miller said he would talk to his tenants and ask them not to park there 15 and that he would put a chain on the north side of the drive way. He 16 would let Mr. Willis know when he has complied. 17 18 Mr. Judge moved to submit to Council an ordinance to transfer $2,250.00 19 in the Police Department budget, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous 20 voice vote the motion was carried. 21 22 Captain Scott Loper, Traffic Division, reported the temporary signals are 23 in operation at the North 20th and "E" Street intersection. 24 25 Mayor Charles Howell requested the Traffic Division make a traffic study 26 to determine if signalization is needed at the entrance of I.U. East during 27 the busy time from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. 28 29 Claude E. Goins, Building Commissioner, reported that Mr. Diamond has 30 cleaned up the area at the garage located at 1205 Boyer and that the 31 contractor will be contacted to take out a permit to re-model the garage. III 32 33 Mr. Judge moved to submit to Council an ordinance transferring $4,200.00 34 within the Fire Department budget, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous 35 voice vote the motion was carried. 36 37 Mr. Judge moved to sumbit to Council an ordinance to transer $3,119.71 38 within the Street Department budget, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unani- 39 mous voice vote the motion was carried. 40 41 Mr. Judge moved to submit an ordinance to Council to transfer $2,700.00 42 within the Board of Works budget, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous 43 voice vote the motion was carried. 44 45 Louis E. Gibbs, Chief of Police, announced Trick-or-Treat night will be 46 Thursday, October 30, 1975, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Children should 47 go only to the houses that have porch lights on. 48 49 Mr. Judge moved to grant permission for the Fire Dept. to use the fire 50 trucks for the annual MS Drive on October 27 and 28, 1975, seconded by 51 Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 52 53 Elmer Toschlog, Street Commissioner, reported to the Board he has received 54 complaints regarding debris and dust at the construction site of the new 55 Hibberd School . He said the Street Dept. has swept the area and used 56 the flusher several times and the problem still exists. III 57 58 Mr. Burton moved to instruct the Clerk to send a letter to Mr. Jack Turnbaugh, 59 Business Manager of the Richmond Community Schools and request his 60 appearance along with the Construction Supt. at the next Board meeting, 61 Oct. 23, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. to respond as to what steps will be taken to 62 control debris and dust in the Hibberd School area, seconded by Mr. Judge 63 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 64 65 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, 66 the meeting was adjourned. 67 68 Robert G.
