HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-02-1975 // BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 2, 1975. 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session October 2, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the 3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. Judge 4 and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 7 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Burton moved, upon recommendation of Fire Marshal , Claude Loudy, 10 to promote the following members of the Richmond Fire Department to the 11 rank of Engineer, effective September 24, 1975, seconded by Mr. Judge 12 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 13 14 Marshall Kern - Rescue Unit 15 L. V. Baker - Dispatch 16 Donald Stal- Dispatch 17 18 Mr. Burton moved to award bid for 3 one-ton trucks for the Street Depart- 19 ment to Kurdys-Brookbank Chevrolet, Inc. , in the amount of $11 ,850.00 20 with trade-in allowance, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice 21 vote the motion was carried. 22 23 Mr. Burton moved to grant tentative approval for the Southeast Richmond 24 Traffic Route as per plans submitted by City Engineer Ralph Willis and 25 to look into the possible funding of same with the stipulation that 26 either the City Engineer's office or the Office of Community Development 27 secure the input of the individuals along the area involved, seconded 28 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 29 30 City Attorney, Robert Burton, examined proof of publication for bids to 31 be received for Community Development Project No. 1-75-25-9, Sanitary 32 Sewer at South "L" , South 20th, South 21st and South 22nd Streets, and 33 found it to be in order. 34 35 Mr. Burton moved to accept and file proof of publication, seconded by 36 Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 37 38 Bids were received from the following: A & D Excavating in the amount 39 of $40,559.75, Mike Delucio & Son, in the amount of $39,243.50 and 40 George E. Russell , Inc. in the amount of $56,003.26. 41 42 Mr. Judge moved to take bids under advisement, seconded by Mr. Burton 43 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 44 45 Mr. Burton upon recommendation of Claude E. Goins, Building Commissioner, 46 moved to send letter to William Diamond asking him to appear before 47 the Board on Oct. 9, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. regarding condemned garage 48 located at .1205 Boyer_ Street, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous 49 voice vote the motion was carried. 50 51 Mr. Judge moved to send a letter to Wayne Miller, 400 North 9th Street, 52 requesting his appearance before the Board on Oct. 9, 1975 at 9:10 a.m. 53 regarding conditions of curb cut request located at 400 North 9th Street, 54 seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 55 carried. 56 57 City Engineer Ralph Willis, reported the North 19th Street Bridge will 58 be torn down Monday, Oct. 6, 1975 and that there will be a delay in 59 opening the new 20th Street Bridge due to delay in installing traffic 60 signals. 61 62 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, 63 the meeting was adjourned. 64 65 Robert Burton, President 66 67 ATTEST: Margaret Mellen, Clerk of the Board
