PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT FOR
ENGINEERING SERVICES
WHEREAS, there exists a need ibr professional services to perform dry weather
storm sewer investigation; pertbrm sanitary manhole verification for inclusion in a
Reconstruction/Rehabilitation Contract; and
WHEREAS, engineering seN'ices are a professional service exempt from the
requirements of competitive bidding pursuant to N.J. S A. 40A: 11-5 (1) (a); and
WHEREAS, the Local Finance Officer has certified that funds are available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret does hereby approve the appointment of Killam Associates at
a maximum cost not to exceed $40,000.00 for storm sewer investigation and
$32,000.00 for manhole investigation, billable as per attached contract.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute said contract.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract is awarded without competitive
bids in accordance with NJ.SA. 40A:I 1-5(1)(a) due to the specialized nature of
the services provided.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that a notice of this action shall be published in the
Home News Tribune on July 20. 1999.
