HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-12-1975 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 12, 1975 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session June 12, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the 3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. Willis 4 present. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Judge was absent. 5 6 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 7 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mayor Charles Howell read a letter from John Simons, Architect, recom- 10 mending to award the contract for the Parking Equipment System for the 11 Multi-level Parking Garage to Dayton Stencil Works Co. in the amount of 12 $15,625.00. 13 14 Mr. Burton moved to award the bid for Parking Equipment System to 15 Dayton Stencil Works Co. , in the amount of $15,625.00, the alternate to 16 add $1 ,508.37 not be accepted and to authorize John Simons, Architect, 17 to notify the bidders of the Board's decision, seconded by Mr. Willis 18 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 19 20 Mr. Burton moved to accept Dedication of the Sokol Corp. for the purpose 21 of widening of Northwest 5th Street, seconded by Mr. Willis and on 22 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 23 24 Mr. Burton moved to grant 12 ft. easement and right-of-way to the Rich- 25 mond Gas Corp. on the west side of North 20th Street, seconded by Mr. 26 Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 27 28 Mr. Burton moved to take condemnation order of dwelling located at 1105 29 Parry Street under advisement until July 3, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. at which 30 time Gurley Fox is to appear to show progress made to bring the outside 31 of the dwelling up to code and at that time, Tom Koorsen, Housing Inspector 32 is to make an inspection of the inside of the dwelling to determine what 33 needs to be done to bring the inside up to code, seconded by Mr. Willis 34 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 35 36 Claude E. Goins, Building Commissioner, requested permission to advertise 37 for bids to be received for demolition of dwelling at 807 North 17th 38 Street. Mr. Goins told the Board notice was sent by certified mail to 39 Mr. Campbell with a copy to Attorney James Ronald and that he received 40 a phone call from Mr. Campbell saing to go ahead with condemnation pro- 41 ceedings. 42 43 Mr. Burton moved to authorize Commissioner Goins to advertise for bids 44 for demolition of dwelling at 807 North 17th Street, seconded by Mr. 45 Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 46 47 Mr. Waymon Brown appeared before the Board regarding condemned dwelling 48 at 1215 North "G" Street. Mr. Brown stated he would notify Building 49 Commissioner Goins by Friday, June 13th or Monday, June 16th if he 50 was not agreeable to the City tearing down the dwelling. 51 52 Mr. Burton moved to have Mr. Brown notify Commissioner Goins in writing 53 if he decides to have the City proceed with condemnation of dwelling at 54 1215 North "G" Street; however, if Mr. Brown is not agreeable, then he 55 is to appear next Thursday, June 19, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. , seconded by 56 Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 57 58 Mr. Burton moved to sign contract for aerial photography, seconded by 59 Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 60 61 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and passed, 62 the meeting was adjourned. 63 64 Robert G.
