BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 15, 1975
1 The Board of Public "Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana
2 met in regular session May 15, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the
3 Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. Judge
4 and Mr. Willis present. The following business -was had to-wit:

6 Mr. Burton moved to approve dedication of real estate by Richard J.
III 7 Brown, located -from Industries Road North to the South line of Dana Corp.
8 for the purpose of a public street, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unani-
9 mous voice vote the motion .was carried.

11 Mr. Judge moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded
12 by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

14 Claude E. Goins, Building Commissioner,appeared before the Board requesting
15 permission to advertise for bids to demolish condemned dwellings at the
16 following locations: 405 South 10th Street, 1229 South 14th Street,
17 922 South 4th Street and 1225 Parry Street.

19 Mr. Goins invited the Board members to look at these dwellings and see J
20 the condition they are in.

22 Mr. Burton moved to take-the request for demolition of the above dwellings
23 under advisement until the next meeting, seconded by Mr. Willis and on
24 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

26 Mr. Burton moved at the request of Mr. Goins to ask owners of the following
27 properties to appear before the Board next week to show cause why they
28 have not complied with the order of the Building Commissioner, seconded
29 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice the motion was carried: 1400 North
30 "F" Street, owner Glen Hall , 91 South 4th Street and 1104 Parry Street,
31 owner Gurley Fox.

33 Building Commissioner Goins will contact the Wayne County Welfare Dept.
34 regarding the property at 1324 North "J" Street which is standing open,
35 and is a fire hazard.

37 Mr. Judge moved to adopt Amendment to Confirmatory Resolution No. 1-1975
38 for vacation of an alley, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice
39 vote the motion was carried.

41 . Mr. Judge moved upon recommendation of John Simons, Architect, to award
42 bid for final construction of the Multi-level Downtown Parking Garage to
43 the lowest bidder Dailey Construction Co. , in the amount of $461 ,700.00
44 deleting Alternates two thru six and to assign :the subcontractors for
45 site work (Mike Delucio & Son) and Reinforcing Steel (Kutter Const. Co.)
46 to Dailey as General Contractor, and to authorize contracts be signed,
47 seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

49 Mayor Charles A. Howell introduced Senator Robert Farr, who was visiting
50 in Richmond.

52 Mayor Howell urged all citizens of Richmond to write to U.S. Railway Asso. ,
53 Washington, D.C. emphasizing the importance to industry and private
54 citizens of keeping the railway system in Richmond -

56 Mr. Burton moved to sign an Agreement to purchase real estate presently
57 owned by Arthur and Dorothy Wisehart (Chilco Manufacturing Co. , Inc.)
58 located at 31 Bridge Ave. in the amount of $17,000.00, seconded by Mr.
59 Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

61 Mr. Judge moved to advertise for bids for Street Dept. Materials to be
62 received on May 29, 1975 at 9:15 a.m. , seconded by Mr. Burton and on
63 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

1 Mr. Burton moved to grant curb cut permits for four locations as per
2 plans submitted on South 7th, 8th and 9th Streets for Downtown Park-
3 ing Garage and to submit plans to the State Highway Dept. for
4 approval , seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the
5 motion was carried.

7 Mr. Judge moved to grant curb cut request located at 1411 South "J"
8 Street, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the
9 motion was carried.

11 Mr. Judge moved to grant curb cut request at 400 North 9th Street,
12 seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
13 carried.

15 Mr. Judge moved to accept dedication of parcel of real estate by
16 Leland Wilson, located at 1810 Williamsburg Pike for the purpose of
17 a public street, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote
18 the motion was carried.

20 Mr. Judge moved to accept dedication by Homer and Thelma Stegall of
21 parcel of real estate for the purpose of a public street, seconded
22 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

24 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
25 passed, the meeting was adjourned.
