CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 27, 1975
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana,
2 met in regular session February 27, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in
3 the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. Willis
4 and Mr. Judge present. The following business was had to-wit:

6 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded
7 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

9 Mr. Burton moved to grant the request for an awning at Harriet's subject
10 to conditions contained in the City Ordinance and also the restrictions
11 listed below, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the
12 motion was carried:

14 1 . The awning does not interfere with the fire lanes established
15 to move emergency vehicles through the downtown area.

17 2. The awning does not interfere or touch any fixtures on the
18 Mall .

20 3. No advertisements or signs hanging from or affixed to the
21 awning in any manner.

23 4. No lower and no further into the Mall than awning at Roger's
24 Jewelry Store.

26 5. Bottom of awning must be a minimum of eight (8) feet high.

28 Mr. Judge moved upon recommendation of Elmer Toschlog, Transportation
29 Director, to award bid to Ries Equipment Company, Inc. for street sweeper
30 in the amount of $24,488.00, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous
31 voice vote the motion was carried.

33 The bid from Rudd Equipment Corp. in the amount of $21 ,500.00 did not
34 meet specifications because it does not have the hydrostatic transmission.

36 Mr. Toschlog stated the Street Department has again started curb and
37 sidewalk repairs and replacement, and they are again being torn up at
38 night.

40 City Attorney, Robert Burton, said that parents are responsible for
41 property damage.

43 City Attorney, Robert Burton, said that once we can ascertain who is
44 responsible for this damage to the new curbs and sidewalks , the City
45 could prosecute up to $750.00.

47 Mr. Judge moved to submit an ordinance to Council appropriating $13,500.00
48 from the "Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund" for storm sewer drainage
49 in the Holsapple area and the Hayes Arboretum and Woodside Drive loca-
50 tion, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
51 carried.

53 William H. Berry, Fire Chief, requested that a fire hydrant be installed
54 on the northwest corner., of Northwest "V" and Northwest 12th Street.
55 This hydrant will service the Elevator Equipment Co. , Bartell 's Warehouse,
56 General Telephone Warehouse and Garage, and the Mosey Mfg. building.

58 Mr. Burton moved to grant the request to install a fire hydrant on the
59 northwest corner of Northwest "V" and Northwest 12th Streets , seconded
60 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

62 As a matter of information Mr. Judge reported an ordinance is being
63 sent to Council requesting an appropriation from the Federal Revenue
64 Sharing Trust Fund in the amount of $21 ,000.00 of which $9,000.00 is
65 for City Court and $12,000.00 for Clinton's design of the mall erten-
66 sion.

1 City Engineer, Ralph Willis, requested the State Highway Maintenance
2 Inspector send his report on the condition of the Main Street
3 Bridge back to us.

5 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
6 passed, the meeting was adjourned.
