HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-13-1975 /9 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 13, 1975 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session February 13, 1975 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in 3 the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Burton presided with Mr. 4 Judge and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Judge moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded III7 by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Bill Kehlenbrink and Dana Weigle appeared on behalf of Rose City Festival 10 Parade Committee stating the parade route would start at llth and Main 11 Street and disban at So. 6th Street at Elder Beermans. It was also 12 stated there are already 39 entrants in the parade. 13 14 Mrs. Joanne Roslansky of Liscomb Enterprises appeared before the Board 15 requesting permission to put an awning on the building of Transmissions 16 Unlimited at South 12th and Main Streets. 17 18 Claude E. Goins , Building Commissioner, said he sees no problems presented 19 by the construction of the awning. 20 21 Mr. Willis moved to approve the request for installation of an awning at 22 Transmissions Unlimited, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice 23 vote the motion was carried. 24 25 Petition requesting a curb cut at 400 North "D" Street was presented to 26 the Board. It was stated the curb cut was requested to provide more 27 parking spaces for a three unit apartment house at 400 North "D" St. 28 29 Capt. Scott Loper recommended to the Board denial of the curb cut request 30 at 400 North "D" St. due to the lack of space for ample parking. 31 III 32 Department of City Planning also recommended denial of this curb cut 33 request. 34 ' 35 Mr. Burton moved to deny the request for a curb cut at 400 North "D" St. , 36 seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 37 38 Bids on tree cutting were received at 9:15 a.m. The following bids 39 were received: 40 • 41 A.J . 's Tree Service, James Robert Sturgeon owner - $1 .48 per inch 42 Charles E. Fox, Fox Tree Service - $1 .60 per inch or $48.00 per tree 43 Arthur Richards - $1 .85 per inch or $27.50 per tree 44 45 Mr. Judge moved take bids for tree cutting under advisement until next 46 week, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 47 carried. 48 49 Claude E. Go ins 22 23 Donald Strahan, Director of Public Safety requested appropriation be 24 presented to Council February 17, 1975 for $50,000 for fire stations 25 No. 2 and No. 3. 26 27 Mr. Judge requested the Clerk prepare an ordinance and present to 28 Council requesting the appropriation of $50,000.00 from the Cumulative 29 Capital Improvement Fund to finish fire stations No. 2 and No. 3. 30 31 Richard Freeman, Director of Redevelopment presented Quit Claim Deed 32 from the Redevelopment Commission for the property which was formerly 33 the S & S Green Stamp Center to be the site of the Parking Garage. 34 35 Mr. Burton moved to accept the Quit Claim Deed, seconded by Mr. Judge 36 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 37 38 Mr. Judge moved to sign final agreement for engineering services from 39 Henry B. Steeg & Assoc. for preparation of drawing and specifications 40 for construction of watershed improvement for storm sewer at South 41 16th Street, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the 42 motion was carried. 43 44 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and 45 passed, the meeting was adjourned. 46 47 Robert Burton - 48 President 49 50 ATTEST: Wynona Adams 51 Acting Clerk of the Board
