CALL TO ORDER AGENDA ITEM 7.A-1 Mayor Yu called the City Council Special Meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue, Temple City. 2. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmember — Blum, Chavez, Vizcarra, Sternquist, Mayor Yu ABSENT: Councilmember — None ALSO PRESENT: Deputy City Clerk Bonus, Assistant to the City Manager Haworth, and Consultant Elwood. 3. PUBLIC COMMENTS — None 4. INTERVIEWS FOR PUBLIC ART COMMISSION VACANCY The City Council interviewed five final applicants to fill two additional seats and name one alternate on the Public Art Commission. The final five candidates that interviewed for the Public Art Commission were Kathy Keelin, Joanne Rosso, Mary Coolman, Sue E. Tan and Robert Hepler. Assistant to the City Manager, Haworth provided an update and reviewed the actions made during the Special City Council meeting of January 10, 2013. Councilmember Blum recused himself from the interview of the first interviewee Kathy Keelin at 7:13 p.m. and returned at 7:29 p.m. Council meeting recessed at 8:50 p.m. and reconvened at 9:00 p.m. At the conclusion of the interview, Leslie Elwood, Public Art Consultant, provided Council with the interview panel's comments regarding the applicants from the first round of interviews. Councilmember Chavez made a motion to appoint Kathy Keelin, to fill one of two seats on the Public Art Commission, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Sternquist and carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: COUNCILMEMBER: Chavez, Vizcarra, Sternquist, Yu Special City Council Minutes March 11, 2013 Page 2 NOES: COUNCILMEMBER: None ABSTAIN: COUNCILMEMBER: Blum Councilmember Vizcarra made a motion to appoint Robert Hepler to fill one of two seats on the Public Art Commission, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Sternquist and carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: COUNCILMEMBER: Blum, Vizcarra, Sternquist NOES: COUNCILMEMBER: Chavez, Yu ABSTAIN: COUNCILMEMBER: None Councilmember Chavez made a motion to appoint Joanne Rosso to serve as alternate on the Public Art Commission, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Sternquist and unanimously carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: COUNCILMEMBER: Blum, Chavez, Vizcarra, Sternquist, Yu NOES: COUNCILMEMBER: None ABSTAIN: COUNCILMEMBER: None Kathy Keelin, Robert Hepler, and Joanne Rosso will be sworn in at a Regular City Council meeting to be determined. Leslie Elwood, Public Art Consultant, commented that the budget for the Public Art Projects will be presented to Council for consideration at a later time. Assistant to the City Manager Haworth explained that the amendment to the Public Art Commission ordinance will be drafted and presented to Council during the April 2nd meeting, once approved, a second reading will be conducted. The ordinance will take effect 30 days from the adoption of the amended ordinance. 5. ADJOURNMENT The City Council's Special Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m. Mayor FIX1*19 Deputy City Clerk
