Re: US 27, SR 227 (10th St. ) & SR 121
(N. "J" St) Richmond; Wayne County -
Request for Left Turn Indications

Dear Ms. Mellen:

We have received the Greenfield District's engineering
report and investigation that was made to ascertain whether traffic
conditions are such at this location to require the addition of a left
turn arrow into the signal phasing.

A review and analysis of the data submitted, indicates that
the left turning vehicular volumes, (southbound to eastbound) are
sufficient to fulfill the minimum requirements of the standard
criteria for the installation of a left turn indication and phasing.

With the inclusion of the left turn phasing for southbound to
eastbound traffic, the "RIGHT TURN ON RED" movement for northbound
to eastbound traffic will need to be prohibited.

By copy of this letter, we are instructing our Greenfield
District Engineer and his staff to proceed with the addition of
the left turn indication and phasing at this intersection at
their earliest convenience after receipt of the Official Action
prohibiting "RIGHT TURN ON RED" for the northbound to eastbound
traffic.

In closing, we thank you for your interest in traffic safety
and for bringing this locationto our attention.

Very truly yours,
/s/ Clinton A. Venable
Chief, Division of Traffic

Street from North "E" to Hawkins Road, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unani-
mous voice vote the motion was carried.
