HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-24-1974 027/ BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 24, 1974 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session October 24, 1974 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in 3 the Municipal Building in Said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Burton 4 present. Mr. Willis was absent. The following business was had to-wit: 5 6 Mr. Burton moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 7 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Jim Simons of Yokefellow Institute appeared before the Board requesting 10 permission for direction signs to be placed on National Road West and 11 College Avenue. 12 13 The request was taken under advisement, for study by the Traffic Dept. 14 15 Captain Scott Loper, Traffic Division, presented the following letter: 16 17 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY 18 Jerald J. Judge, President 19 20 Dear Board Members: 21 22 The Traffic Division would like to recommend that the eighteen 23 parking spaces located in the Municipal Building Parking Lot, 24 West side of the Island, be changed from the present 2 Hour 25 Parking restriction to No Restriction. The additional spaces 26 are needed for employee parking. 27 28 The remaining eighteen parking spaces on the East side of the 29 Island would remain 2 hour parking for those of the general 30 public having business in the Municipal Building. 31 32 /s/ Scott Loper 33 Capt. Traffic Division 34 35 Mr. Judge moved to take Capt. Loper's request under advisement, 36 seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was 37 carried. 38 39 Capt. Loper reported the Indiana State Highway Commission has granted 40 permission for right turn on red at the intersection of U.S. 40 and 41 Southwest Fifth Streets. 42 43 Capt. Loper stated we have received a reply from the State Highway 44 Commission saying they will make a study for a left turn arrow at the 45 North 10th and "J" Street location. 46 47 Safety Director Donald L. Strahan reported the chain barricade at Test 48 School was up after dark during a football game. Director Strahan 49 requested this chain be removed. 50 51 Mr. Judge moved to have the Clerk send a letter to Mr. Darryl Stults, 52 Principal of Test School , asking him to contact Director Strahan as 53 soon as possible regarding the removal of the chain barricade, seconded 54 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 55 56 Mr. Judge moved to approve a curb cut at 806 N.W. "B" Street, seconded 57 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 58 59 Mr. Judge moved to approve request by Fire Chief William H. Berry for 60 a fire hydrant study at the following locations, seconded by Mr. 61 Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried: 62 63 1 . Elder-Wilbert, Corp. Kain Electric Service, U.S. 35 and Northwest "T" 4 Street. 5 6 4. Elevator Equipment Co. , Northwest 17th and Northwest 7 "V" Street. 8 9 Mr. Burton moved as per recommendation of Administrative Assistant 10 Charles Howell , to amend the advertisement for bus benches to be 11 for 100 used bus stop benches, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unani- 12 mous voice vote the motion was carried. 13 14 Mr. Judge moved to authorize installation of a new street light 15 to replace the old light at 3029 Park Avenue, seconded by Mr. Burton 16 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 17 18 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and 19 passed, the meeting was adjourned. 20 21 Jerald J.
