BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 10, 1974
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
2 met in regular session October 10, 1974 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in
3 the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr.
4 Willis present. Mr. Burton was absent. The following business was
5 had to-wit:

7 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded
8 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

10 Elmer Toschlog, Street Commissioner, appeared before the Board to dis-
11 cuss the problem of refuse falling off scrap dealers trucks causing
12 motorists to have flat tires.

14 The problem was taken under advisement to see what could be worked out.

16 The following bids were received on junk vehicles: Recycling Center,
17 630 South "M" Street, $26.55 per car; Sam Jaffe Company, 283 Ft. Wayne
18 Avenue, $19.27 per car; and Glazer Scrap Corp. , 650 North 8th Street,
29 $22.13 per car.
21. Mr. Judge moved to award the bid to Recycling Center in the amount of
22 $26.55 per car, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the
23 motion was carried.

25 All bids received were accompanied with $100.00 bid bond which was
26 returned to the unsuccessful bidders.

28 Mr. Sam Bueme, 700 North 19th Street, appeared regarding the closing of
29 the North 19th Street Bridge.

31 Mr. Willis moved to leave the North 19th Street bridge open to car and
32 pedestrian traffic with the stipulation that signs be posted stating
33 No Bus or Trucks Allowed to used the bridge because of the three ton
34 limit, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
35 carried.

37 Mr. Willis reported the North 15th Street railroad crossing will be made
38 passable to traffic that would normally use the North 19th Street crossing.

40 Mr. Judge moved to approve the Dennis Jr. High Spirit March, Oct. 22,
• 41 1974 at 3:10 p.m. with plans to be coordinated thru the Traffic Dept. ,
42 seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

44 Mr. Judge moved to submit ordinance to Council for a transfer in the
45 City Engineer's budget in the amount of $98.58, seconded by Mr. Willis
46 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

48 Mr. Judge moved to authorize installation of street lights at N.W. 18th
49 and "C" Streets and 420 S.W. 4th-- Alley between S.W. 4th and S.W. 5th
50 Streets on existing poles as per map Mr. Hart has and at 509 South 22nd
51 Street on existing pole, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice
52 vote the motion was carried.
