SPECIAL MEETING
BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 20, 1974
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana
2 met in special session September 20, 1974 in the Municipal Building in
3 said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Burton and Mr. Willis present.
4 The following business was had to-wit:

6 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded
7 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

9 Chief of Police Lewis E. Doren presented the following letter:

14 Dear Board Members:

16 I request permission to send Officers Timothy Tyler and
17 Gary Osborn to the thirty second session of the Basic
18 Law Enforcement Courses sponsored by the Indiana Law
19 Enforcement Training Board. Classes will be held at
20 Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana September
21 23 to November 2, 1974.

23 The only cost to the Department will be transportation.

29 Mr. Judge moved to grant permission to send Officers Timothy Tyler.
30 and Gary Osborn to the Law Enforcement Courses Sept. 23 thru Nov.
31 2, 1974, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the
32 motion was carried.

34 Mr. Willis moved to grant permission from Crye Jewelers to close
35 grate in front of their business and install a planter a maximum of
36 18 inches in width-, minimum.30 inches high,seconded by Mr. Judge and
37 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

39 Mr. Willis moyed to approve a curb cut at 122 South 16th Street, sec-
40 onded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
41 Traffic and Planning have approve this curb cut.

43 Councilman Marino Williams presented a petition requesting South Third
44 Street from "A" to "B" Streets be paved. Councilman Williams also
45 presented the following problems for the Board's consideration.

47 1 . Two alleys between North 8th and Highway 27 and North
48 "H" and North "I" Streets.

50 2. Trash problem at 125 South 10th Street.

52 3. Bureau of Buildings to check house at 134 South llth Street.

54 4. Dead tree at 135 South 3rd Street.

56 Mr. Judge referred Councilman Williams ' request to the proper depart-
57 ments.

59 As a point of information Director Strahan stated Halloween Trick-or-
60 Treats night will be Thursday, October 31 , from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
61 Visits should only be made where porch lights are on and Director
62 Strahan encouraged visits be made early in the evening.

64 There being no further business on motion duly made,seconded and passed,
65 the meeting was adjourned.
