HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-12-1974 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 12, 1974 1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, 2 met in regular session September 12, 1974 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in 3 the Municipal Building in said City. President Judge presided with 4 Mr. Burton and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to- 5 wit: 6 7 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded 8 by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 9 10 Mr. Joe Barker, Shera Coal & Oil Company appeared before the Board to 11 request permission to moved four tanks presently located at Oakland 12 and South "L" Streets to 529 South 5th Street. , 13 14 Fire Chief, William Berry, reported he did study the site and would 15 like to see the tanks place underground. 16 1-7 Mr. Willis moved to grant permission for Mr. Barker to moved the four 18 tanks to 529 South 5th Street to be placed underground, seconded by Mr. 19 Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 20 21 Mr. Sheridan Teachout, General Telephone, appeared before the Board 22 requesting an encroachment privilege for their new office building. 23 24 The proposed building is so designed that the footer will extend a 25 maximum of six inches out into public right-of-way on the East, West 26 and North elevations and a Man-Hole type vault is to be an apportenance 27 to said building that also encroaches into public right-of-way, therefore, 28 Mr. Willis moved to grant permission to the General Telephone Company 29 to construct the above said footers and vaults in accordance with 30 plans presented to the Board of Public Works and Safety this llth day 31 of September, 1974, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote 32 the motion was carried. _ - 33 34 As a matter of record, Don McBride will be submitting an ordinance to 35 Council appropriating $12,000.00 from Federal Revenue Sharing Trust 36 Funds for a new Park Department office building. 37 38 Lewis E. Doren, Chief of Police, presented the following letter: 39 40 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY 41 Jerald J. Judge, President 42 43 - Dear Board Members: 44 45 I recommend that Kirk Douglas Simonds, age 22, of 112 1/2 46 South 7th Street, Richmond, Indiana, be appointed a 47 Probationary Patrolman on the Richmond Police Department. 48 49 Mr. Simonds has successfully completed all mental and physical 50 examinations as required by this Department. 51 52 Please make this appointment effective September 16, 1974. 53 54 Sincerely, 55 /s/ Lewis E. Doren 56 Chief of Police 57 58 Mr. Judge moved to appoint Kirk Douglas Simonds as a Probationary 59 Patrolman effective September 16, 1974, seconded by Mr. Burton and 60 on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 61 62 Mr. Judge moved to submit a resolution to Council to transfer within 63 the Board of Works Budget the sum of $1 ,150.00, seconded by Mr. Willis 64 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 65 66 Mr. Judge moved to submit a resolution to Council to transfer $175.53 67 in the City Court Budget, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous 68 voice vote the motion was carried. 69 Board of Works Minutes September 12, 1974 Page 2 1 Mr. Judge moved to submit a resolution to Council to transfer 2 $600.00 in the Motor Vehicle Highway Budget, seconded by Mr. Bur- 3 ton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 4 5 Mr. Judge moved to submit to Council an Ordinance to transfer 6 $710.00 in the Fire Department Budget, seconded by Mr. Burton 7 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 8 9 Mr. Judge moved to submit an ordinance to Council appropriating 10 $20.000.00 from the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund (Cigarette 11 Tax) for Street and Traffic Light Improvemetns and Right-of- 12 Way at West Main and Southwest First Streets, seconded by Mr. 13 Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 14 15 There being no further business on motion duly made,seconded 16 and passed, the meeting was adjourned. 17 18 19 Jerald J.
