BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 22, 1974
1 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana
2 met in regular session August 22, 1974 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in
3 the Municipal Building in said City. President Judge presided
4 with Mr. Burton and Mr. Willis present. The following business was
5 had to-wit:

7 Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting,
8 seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
9
10 carried.
11 Wayne Jackson, Chairman, Muscular Dystrophy Drive presented the
12 following to the Board:

17 Gentlemen:

19 The Richmond Firefighters ' Local 1408 respectfully requests
20 permission to use fire trucks on Monday, September 2, 1974
21 for collection of contributions for the Muscular Dystrophy
22 drive.

24 Hours will be from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Trucks will be
25 in service in their respective districts and will respond
26 to any alarm which may occur.

28 Permission has been granted for this worthwhile project by
29 Chief William Berry, subject to approval by you as Board
30 of Public Works and Safety.

37 Mr. Judge moved to approve the use of fire trucks on September 2,
38 1974 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. for collection of contributions
39 for the Muscular Dystrophy Drive, seconded by Mr. Burton and on
40 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

49 I wish to recommend that Officer Tom Cox be advanced from
50 the rank of Probationary Patrolman to that of Patrolman
51 First Class on the Richmond Police Department.

53 Officer Cox has successfully completed one year probation
54 as required.

56 Please make this advancement effective August 27, 1974.

62 Mr. Judge moved to promote Officer Tox Cox from Probationary Patrol-
63 man to Patrolman First Class on the Richmond Police Department, effective
64 August 27, 1974, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote
65 the motion was carried.

1 Mr. Willis moved to approve curb cut at 266 Cartwright Drive, seconded
2 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

4 Mr. Willis moved to approve curb cut at 4621 South "C" Street which has
5 been approved by Plan Commission and Traffic Department, seconded by
6 Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

8 Mr. Willis moved to approve curb cut at 4601 South "C" Street, seconded
9 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

11 Mr. Willis moved to approve curb cut at 731 Abington Pike, seconded
12 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

14 Mr. Willis moved to approve curb cut at 1900 East Main Street
15 (Optometrist's Office) subject to plans and conditions as set forth
16 by the Plan Commission and contigent to State Highway approval , seconded
17 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

19 Mr. Judge moved to authorize installation of three (3) street lights
20 along Elm Drive from 17th to 20th Streets, seconded by Mr. Burton
21 and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

23 Mr. Judge moved to present to Council at Ordinance ,requesting a trans-
24 fer within the Budget of Weights and Measures the sum of $150.00, seconded
25 by Mr..:Bur_ton_.and_on unanimous voice vote. the motion was carried.

27 Mr. Judge moved to present to Council an Ordinance requesting a
28 transfer within the Budget of Bureau of Building for the sum of
29 $300.00, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the mo-
30 tion was carried.

32 Mr. Burton moved to sign and execute an "Agreement for Fire Depart-
33 ment Services" between the City of Richmond and the Town of Spring
34 Grove, Indiana, at the rate of $.95 tax levied against each $100
35 of taxable property within the said Town of Spring Grove, seconded
36 by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried,
37 for the years 1974 and 1975.

48 I wish to advise you that the following bridges have been
49 inventory rated, and should be posted with"Gross Weight"
50 limit signs as noted.

52 Structure Way 24 located on Gravel Pit Road 0.1 mile
53 north of Old U.S. 40 , 3 ton.

55 Structure Way 33 located on Whitewater Blvd. 0.2 mile
56 N.E. of Richmond Avenue 9 ton.

62 Mr. Willis moved to authorize Street Commissioner Elmer Toschlog
63 to install "Gross Weight" limit signs at the above stated locations,
64 seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was

1 Mr. Burton moved to accept and file proof of publication to accept
2 bids on demolition of house. and-:buildings on North 20th Street,
3 as being in order, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice
4 vote the motion was carried.

6 Mr. Judge stated all bids are to be received sealed.

8 Bids were received from the following:

12 Mike Delucio & Son, Richmond, Ind. 9,768.00

14 Mr. Judge moved to take the bids under advisement, seconded by
15 Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

17 There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
18 passed, the meeting was adjourned.
