BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY 9, 1974
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session May 9, 1974, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the
Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Burton
and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit:
Mr. Willis moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting,
seconded by Mr.Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
carried.
Fire Chief William H. Berry presented the following letter to the
Board:

Gentlemen
The following is being presented to the Board of
Public Works and Safety for action:
1 ) Request fthat the Board accept the resignation
of Fire-fighter Richard McLear. He has
served on the department since March 2, 1968
and asks that his resignation be effective
May 10, 1974.
2) Recommend that hte Board re-appoint Gerald
Rigsby to the department effective May 10,
1974. Mr. Rigsby was hired by the City on
July 30, 1971 and laid off on January 1 , 1973.
He has passed all the requirements for reappoint-
ment.

Mr. Willis moved to accept the resignation of Fire-fighter Richard
McLear effective May 10, 1974, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous
voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Willis moved to reappoint Gerald Rigsby to the Richmond Fire
Department effective May 10, 1974, seconded by Mr. Judge and on
unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Burton moved to send an Ordinance to Council requesting a trans-
fer of funds within the Weights and Measures Budget in the amount of
$125.00, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the
motion was carried.
Traffic Captain Scott Loper presented a report to the Board regarding
a request for speed bumps in the 2000 block of South 14th Street
made by Mr. Robert Mullins, 2023 South 14th Street. Capt. Loper
recommended the request for speed bumps be denied and Children
Playing signs be installed instead.
Mr. Burton moved to accept Capt. Loper's report and deny request for
speed bumps and install Children Playing Signs instead, seconded by
Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.

Mr. James Taggart appeared before the Board to present information
regarding the operation of Tagg's Cab Company.
Mr. Burton offered the Board's assistance in finding a better way
of posting rates in the cab as required by City Ordinance.
There being no further business on motion duly made,seconded and pas-
sed the meeting was adjourned.
