To whom it may concern:
DPR Construction & Remodeling, Corp, has been retained to handle the interior and exterior remodel of
the above referenced property. We have started the process of obtaining all applicable permits. Also, we
have met with City Inspector to walk the property and review any structural issues that were evident on
first visual inspection. We are working the City and the owner to bring this property into 100%
compliance with city ordinance and code. Initial work to determine extent of any structural issues will
commence within the next couple weeks. Master remodel permit number 22-00001168 has been issued by
the city and we are preparing to file NOC in the next few days.
I have been advised by the out-of-town owner of the property that he received and letter for hearing with
Magistrate, sometime next month, date not known to me as of yet. Please remove us from needing to
appear at that time if possible. Attached you will find an initial scope of work to be performed to bring
this property up to standard and code.

SCOPE OF WORK
Remove and install new roof shingles and any rotted decking. This will be done by framers first
and in sections as to not open entire house at one time. Once roof materials and decking are
removed we will evaluate the existing truss system and make any needed structural repairs at that
time. Also, we will be inspecting the wall top plates and possible water intrusion for damage and
rot. Once all roof structural issues are satisfied and repaired, the roofing company will come in to
install 30-year shingles and underlayment.
Front porch area will be removed, and new support posts installed in concrete footers. Porch
ceiling will be removed and rebuilt to existing size. Upon completion there will be a concrete
porch and walk poured where existing damaged deck is now.
- Exterior walls will be inspected, and siding repaired to code followed by painting of exterior. Any
window replacement remains to be determined
Interior work will be basic repairs
o New ac unit, changing from gas to electric
o New tub and faucets in baths to include vanities and toilets
o Kitchen cabinets to be repaired and painted, new tops and faucets
o Repair drywall and paint, texture
o New trim and paint
o New laminate floors
o Replace some interior doors.
o Repair electric and run some new circuits
o Repair any and all plumbing issues.
Other permits required will be, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical and Roofing.

38.65 - Standards for Improved Property.
(h) Exterior doors: Every exterior door and hatchway or
garage door shall be kept in sound working condition and
good repair.
(i) Exterior doorframes and storefronts: Exterior doorframes
and storefronts shall be maintained in good condition. All
moldings shall be securely attached to the structure and
maintained in good condition without splitting or
deterioration.
CORRECTIVE ACTION REQUIRED :
Building Permits: Prior to commencing work to correct a
violation as described below, a building permit, or approval
from the Building Official is required. Failure to obtain a
building permit is punishable by Florida Statute 553.
You may abate the violation(s) by conducting the following
action(s).

exterior doorframes or storefront. All moldings shall be

Dear Property Owner:
You are hereby formally notified that on April 19, 2022, at 5:30 P.M., there will be a Public Hearing at
City Hall, located at 198 Wilson Street North, Crestview, Florida 32536 in the Council Chambers. This
meeting is being held concerning violations that continue to exist on a parcel of property belonging to
you located at 298 N Savage Street, Crestview, FL 32536 more particularly described as:

The Special Magistrate has the power to levy fines up to $250 per day for a first violation, and up to
$500 per day for a repeat violation. If the Special Magistrate finds the violation to be irreparable or
irreversible in nature, a fine, not to exceed $5,000 per violation, may be imposed.
If a violation, or the condition causing the violation, presents a serious threat to the public health, safety,
and welfare, or if the violation is irreparable or irreversible in nature, the Special Magistrate will notify
the local governing body, which may make all reasonable repairs required to bring the property into
compliance, and charge the violator with the reasonable cost of the repairs along with the fine imposed.
If the City prevails in prosecuting a case before the Special Magistrate, it shall be entitled to recover all
costs incurred in prosecuting the case before the Special Magistrate, and such costs may be included in
the lien authorized under FS 162.09(3).
A certified copy of an Order imposing a fine, or a fine plus repair costs, will be recorded in the Okaloosa
County Public Records, and thereafter shall constitute a lien against the land on which the violation
exists and upon any other real or personal property owned by the violator.

Statement of Violation
Code of Ordinance Violated: Chapter 38 Section 65 (h), (n), (q)
(h) Exterior doors: Every exterior door and hatchway or garage door shall be kept in sound
working condition and good repair.
(n) Roofs: Roofs shall be maintained in a structurally sound and safe manner. Roofs shall be
repaired using like materials to existing materials.
(q) Overhang Extensions: All overhang extensions including, but not limited to canopies,
marquees, signs, metal awnings, fire escapes, standpipes, and exhaust ducts shall be maintained
in good repair and properly anchored to remain in sound condition. All exposed surfaces of metal
or wood shall be protected from the elements, decay, or rust. For properties located in the
Downtown Overlay District, any commercial awning in disrepair must be repaired to original
condition. Awnings in this district may not be removed but must be repaired. In the event the
original material cannot be located, the property owner must obtain a permit and replace with a
similar product.
Corrective Action Required: Obtain a building permit to demolish the unsafe structure and
remove all demolition debris from the property. Or obtain a licensed engineer to perform a
structural evaluation and submit a letter to the Building Official stating the findings as to the
condition of the structure, submit plans, applicable documents and pay associated fees.
