HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-21-1974 /1s BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 21 , 1974 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session March 21 , 1974, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building in said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Burtonand Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Burton moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Councilman Greg Merchanthouse, Chairman RP&L, appeared before the Board requesting installation of nineteen (19) overhead street lights that were approved by RP&L's Street Light Committee. These lights are to be installed on the Northwest section of town per plans submitted by the Committee. Mr. Judge moved to approve the installation of nineteen (19) overhead street lights as approved by the Street Light Committee, and requested the Acting Clerk write a letter to Mr. Bob Rees, RP&L informing him of the Board's appro- val for this project, seconded by Mr. Burtonand on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Police Chief Lewis E. Doren presented the following: Board of Public Works and Safety Jerald J. Judge, President Dear Board Members: I wish to recommend that Officer Robert Michael Chambers be advanced from the rank of probationary Patrolman to that of Patrolman First Class on the Richmond Police Department. Officer Robert Michael Chambers has successfully completed one year Probation as required. Please make this effective March 23, 1974. Respectfully submitted, /s/ Lewis E. Doren Chief of Police Mr. Judge moved to approve the advancement of Robert Michael Chambers from Probationary Patrolman to that of Patrolman First Class and congratulated Mr. Chambers on his appointment and presented him with a certificated of appoint- ment, seconded by Mr. Burton and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Willis told the Board that the Development Commission will review the re- quest of Joy Ann Bakery for a curb cut before Board of Works can act on it. Building Commissioner Claude E. Goins reported to the Board the order of con- demnation on property located at 508 South 10th Street, owned by Mr. Bob Mar- shall has not been met. He stated the property was condemned on April 18, 1973, but at that time Mr. Marshall was binded on contract. On April 9, 1973 the suit was settled and Mr. Marshall said the dwelling would be repaired. To this dte nothing has been done. He requested the Board order Mr. Marshall in to show cause why this building should not be torn down. Mr. Judge stated the condition of this property was brought before Common Council on March 18, 1974 by Councilman Marino. 111 Mr. Judge moved to order Mr. Bob Marshall to appear before the Board of Works on Thursday, March 28, 1974, at the hour of 9:15 a.m. to explain why property he owns at 508 South 10th Street should not be torn down, seconded by Mr. Burton, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. / V Board of Works Minutes March 21 , 1974 Page 2 Street Commissioner Elmer Toschlog requested permission to advertise for bids for a Tandrum Dump Truck to haul trash into and from the Street Depart- ment Garage. The money will come from Street Department budget. Mr. Judge moved to take bids for one (1 ) tandrum Dump Truck for the Street Department on April 4, 1974 at 9:15 a.m. , seconded by Mr. Willis and on unani- mous voice vote the motion was carried. Fire Chief William Berry presented the Rules and Regulations for the Fire Department to be approved by the Board of Works. Mr. Burton moved the Board of Works approve the Rules and Regulations for the Fire Department of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as presented by Fire Chief William Berry, seconded by Mr. Judge and signed on unanimous approval bf the Board of Public Works and Safety.
