HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-16-1974 - Special Meeting / SPECIAL MEETING BOARD OF PUBLIC ,WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 18, 1974 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in special session February 18, 1974, at the hour of 3:00 p.m. in the Muni- cipal Building in said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Burton and Mr. Willis present. The following business was had to-wit: • Mn Judge moved to install signs for parking for a two-hour time limit on lots owned by the Redevelopment Dept. west of the new Elder-Beerman Depart- ment Store, one lot is between the first block of South Fifth and Sixth Streets , from Main to the service drive and the other is the site of the former Onyx Lodge, on the west side of the first block of South Sixth Street south of the Service Drive, seconded by Mr. Willis and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Board of Public Works and Safety Mr. Jerald J. Judge, President Dear Board Members: The Traffic Division would like to make the following recommendations. We are recommending that the following areas be reduced from Two Hour Parking to One Hour Parking: 1 . First Block of South 3rd Street. 2. Tenth Street between North "A" Street and South "A" Street. 3. One Thousand Block of East Main Street. 4. Eleven Hundred Block of East Main Street. 5. Seven Hundred Block of North "A" Street. 6. Eight Hundred Block of North "A" Street. 7. One Thousand Block of North "A" Street. The Traffic Division would also like to recommend that Eleventh Street between North "A" Street and South "A" Street be reduced from Four Hour Parking to One Hour Parking. The Traffic Division feels that ample off street parking is available . in the above mentioned areas, such as, the Municpal Parking Lot located in the First Block of North 10th Street which offeres two hour free parking, the Municipal Parking lot located in the 100 Block of South 9th and 10th Street offering unrestricted parking, and the Municipal Parking Lot located in the 100 Block of North 6th and 7th Street offer- ing unrestricted parking. The Traffic Division feels that the proposed One Hour Parking on South Third Street is sufficient for people to conduct business in the County Court House. The Traffic Division feels with approval of the above mentioned re- commendations a desired turnover rate in on street parking will be reached. Furthermore, the entire downtown core area shall be uniform as to its on street parking restriction, that being One Hour Parking. This will effect 149 Parking Spaces. Sincerely, /s/ Lewis E.
