CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 22, 1973
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session March 22, 1973, at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building
of said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Benner and Miss Wynegar present.
The following business was had to-wit:
Mr. Benner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting,seconded by Miss
Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Benner moved to advertise and accept bids for approximately eleven miles of
Boulder Curb replacement at 9:30 a.m. Thrusday, April 5, 1973, seconded by Mr.
Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Judge moved the Board authorize installation of street lights on South "J"
Street between 7th and 8th Streets, ,South "J" between 8th and 9th Streets and
South "H" between Railroad and 7th Street, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on
unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr. Benner moved to adopt an Improvement Resolution for Barrett Law Petition
for Curbs and Gutters on South "J" Street between South 19th Street to South
21st Street, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
carried. Miss Wynegar, City Attorney, was asked to prepare the Improvement
Resolution.
Police Chief, Donald Strahan, presented the following letter to the Board:

To Whom It May Concern:
Effective Saturday, March 17, 1973, for personal reasons, I
hereby terminate my positon as a Special Police Officer of the
Richmond Police Department, Richmond, Indiana.

Mr. Judge moved to accept the resignation of Special Police Officer, James
Everett, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
carried.
Chief Strahan presented the following letter to the Board:

Dear Sirs:
I hereby submit my resignation to be effective March 23, 1973; in order
to fully pursue my private business endeavors. It has been my privilege
and honor to serve the Richmond Police Department, and the City of
Richmond. Thank you.

Mr. Judge moved to accept the resignation of Patrolman Bobby Davidson, seconded
by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Chief Strahan presented the following letter to the Board:

Dear Board Members:
I recommend that Robert Michael Chambers, age 23, of 1041 South 23rd
Apt. #90 be appointed a Probationary Patrolman on the Richmond
Police Department.
Mr. Chambers has successfully completed all mental and physical
examinations as required by this Department.
Please make this appointment effective Friday March 23, 1973. .

Mr. Judge moved the Board appoint Robert Michael Chambers as probationary Patrol-
man effective Friday, March 23, 1973, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous
voice vote the mot ion was carried.
Chief Strahan requested permission to take bids for a Rapid Retrieval Filing .
System for the Police Department Records Division:
Mr. Judge moved to take bids for a Rapid Retrieval Filing System on April 5,
1973, at 9:15 a.m. , seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the
motion was carried.
Fire Chief, William Berry, reported to the Board that the Professional Fire
Fighters Local 1408 have filed a grievance regarding the vacation schedule.
This matter was taken under advisement by the Board, and it was decided to get
with the grievance committee within eight days.
There being no furhter business on motion duly made, seconded and passed,
the meeting was adjourned.
