HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-22-1973 r19 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FEBRUARY 22, 1973 The Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana, met in regular session February 22, 1973 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Miss Wynegar presided with Mr. Benner present. Mr. Judge was absent. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Benner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Miss Wynegar moved that the Board approve installation, of two overhead street lights , one at South 33rd and Backmeyer Road and one at 991 Keyser Lane, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Police Chief, Donald Strahan, presented the following letter to the Board: Board of Public Works and Safety Chief of Police, Donald L. Strahan Members of the Police Pension Board To Whom It May Concern: I , Detective Sgt. Donald L. Knoob, upon having completed 20 (Twenty) years and 5 1/2 (Five and Half) days of Service from February 16, 1953 to February 22, 1973 at 12:00 noon as a member of the Richmond Indiana Police Department, do hereby submit and request to be placed on retirement as of 12:00 o'clock noon February 22, 1973. Sincerely, /s/ Det. Sgt. Donald L. Knoob Mayor Byron E. Klute congratulated Det. Sgt. Donald L. Knoob and expressed his appreciation for all the things Sgt. Knoob had done for the City of Richmond and the community and the police department. He wished Sgt. Knoob the best of luck. Miss Wynegar moved to place Sgt. Donald Knoob on retirement as of 12:00 noon on February 22, 1973, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was passed. Chief Strahan presented the following letter to the Board: February 22, 1973 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY Jerald J. Judge, President Dear Board Members : I wish to recommend that Officer Charles Everett Brown be advanced from the rank of Probationary Patroa.man to that of Patrolman First Class on the Richmond Police Department. Officer Brown has successfully completed one year probation as required. Please make this advancement effective February 18, 1973. Sincerely, /s/ Donald L. Strahan Chief of Police Mr. Benner moved to advance Charles Everett Brown to Patrolman First Class on the Richmond Police Department effective February 18, 1973, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Benner moved to accept the Barrett Law Petition for Sanitary Sewer on Salisbury and Test Roads, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was passed. The Board referred the Barrett Law Petition for Sanitary Sewer to the Engineering Department for design. Mr. Benner moved the agreement be signed with A & F Engineering Co. Ind. for the Topics Study, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Page 2 Board of Works Minutes February 22, 1973 Mr. Benner moved to send a letter to Goodyear Company and ask them for their leas time on this project. Miss Wynegar stated the proof of publication for bids to supply fuel oil was received on February 20, 1973, and found to be in order. The Board received letters of intent to suppy the City with Fuel oil until May 31 , 1973, from Warfield Co. and Gulf Oil Co. Miss Wynegar moved to continue to purchase fuel oil from Mr. Robert Elstro, Gulf Oil , at 17¢ and 17.1¢ until May 31 , 1973, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unani- mous voice vote the motion was carried. The Board's decision to continue to purchase fuel oil from Mr. Elstro was based on the excellent service he has offered in the past, the fact that he has performance bond and his assurance that the price will not go up.
