A Regular Meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret was called to order by Mayor Daniel J. Reiman at 6:00
P.M., Thursday, August 18, 2016, in the Council Chambers,
Memorial Municipal Building, 61 Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New
Jersey.
Upon Individual Roll Call Vote the following were noted present:
Councilmember Vincent Bellino
Jorge Diaz
Dennis DiMascio
" Ajmar Johal
Susan Naples
Noted Absent was Conuncilmember Randy Krum and Kathleen M.
Barney, Municipal Clerk.
Also noted present was Linda A. Rivera, Assistant Municipal Clerk
and Robert J. Bergen, Law Director.
The meeting was opened with a minute of silent prayer and the
Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Daniel J. Reiman.
The Assistant Clerk stated that on January 6, 2016, the 2016
Annual Notice was mailed to The Home News Tribune, The Star
Ledger and posted on the Bulletin Board. Notice was published in
The Home News Tribune on January 5, 2016 and The Star Ledger
on January 6, 2016.

BUILDINGS & GROUNDS: Committee Chairperson lohal reported
they had progress with the work being done on the Fire Houses
and the roof on the building in Carteret Park is complete and they
are looking into work to be done in the Recreation Building.

CCNr: FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION: Committee Chairperson Diaz
reported the finance audit has been completed and we are
waiting on the report from the auditors and the sewer bills for the
second half of 2016 should be mailed by Monday. He said they
had passed a resolution this evening so the Tax Sale can be done
online and he also mentioned our Director of Technology has
been a wonderful addition to our staff. In the last three (3) weeks
he has instituted a work ticket system and about one hundred and
fifty (150) work tickets have been addressed in a timely fashion.
He also looked into upgrading our security system and our
network . Continued progress.
FIRE & DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS — In he absence of Committee
Chairperson Krum the Mayor reported Progress.
PARKS, RECREATION & PUBLIC PROPERTY — Committee
Chairperson Bellino reported the spray park is working and many
people are in the park using our facilities. He said the waterfront
is moving along and we are ahead of schedule with the dredging
so it looks like we will be making our deadlines. Progress.
POLICE — Committee Chairperson Naples said, on behalf of
Governing Body, we send our sincere condolences to the sons and
family of Sergeant Craig of the Carteret Police Department. He has
been in the department well over thirty (30) years and he will be
missed. He was a gentleman who always did his job.
PUBLIC WORKS: Committee Chairperson DiMascio reported the
men are all working in the heat. They are staring earlier so they
get done earlier. Progress.
BOARD OF EDUCATION: Committee Chairperson Naples reported
all the work in the schools are winding down. In the high school
they moved all of the main offices and guidance to the downstairs
to eliminate a lot of the public going through the building. She

said school will be ready to open for the students on September

Proclamation: Supporting the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 2016
Statewide Crackdown.
Mayor Reiman read the proclamation into the record:
"Whereas, approximately one -third of all fatal traffic crashes in
the United States involve drunk drivers; and
Whereas, impaired driving crashes cost the United States almost
$50 Billion a year; and
Whereas, 27% of motor vehicle fatalities in New Jersey in 2013
(the last year for which complete data is available) were alcohol -
related; and
Whereas, an enforcement crackdown is planned to combat
impaired driving; and
Whereas, the summer season and the Labor Day holiday in
particular are traditionally times of social gatherings which include
alcohol; and
Whereas, the State of New Jersey, Division of Highway Traffic
Safety, has asked law enforcement agencies throughout the state
to participate in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 2016
Statewide Crackdown; and
Whereas, this project will involve increased impaired driving
enforcement from August 19 through September 5 2016; and
