HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-26-2022 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 26, 1972 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session October 26, 1972 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Benner present. Miss Wynegar was absent. The following business was had to- wit: Mr. Benner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Jerry Judge, City Controller, read a letter from Robert A. Edens , Manager of the Rich- mond Water Works Corporation, requesting the closing of one block of East Main Street between 5th and 6th on November 2, 1972 from 11 :00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for open house festivities . Captain Scott Loper reported that there was no problem to this request. Mr. Judge moved to approve the request as recommended, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Chief of Police, Donald Strahan, reported to the Board that he was attending a drug seminar-at Indianapolis , October 26, 1972. He also stated this seminar is presented by Hook's Drugs and the guest speaker was to be John Ingersoll , Director of the Bureau of Dangerous Drugs in Washington, D.C. The public hearing for the improvement of curbs and gutters on Mendleson Drive was held at 9:30 a.m. Jerry Judge, City Controller, examined the proof of publication and found it to be in order. David Benner, City Engineer, advised those present that this improvement of curbs and gutters was estimated at $3.00 to $3.50 a running foot based on a contractors price. He also stated they would utilize the Street Department personnel which would lower the price a little. Hearing no objection from those present, Mr. Benner moved to accept bids to be taken November 16, 1972 at 9:30 a.m. , seconded by Mr. Judge and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
