HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-10-1972 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS &SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 10, 1972 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session August 10, 1972 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Benner and Miss Wynegar present. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Benner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Benner moved that a petition, signed by 14 area residents , for a 2-hour restricted parking on S.W. 2nd Street from S.W. "D" to S.W. "E" Streets, be referred to the Traffic Division, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Representatives of the petitioners said they were requesting the restriction to be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays because of high school students who park all day, and because a problem with trash and obscene behavior. Mr. Judge moved that a request from the Hi-Y for the High School Homecoming Parade, to be held September 30, 1972, be referred to the Traffic Divsion, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Fire Chief William Berry requested permission to attend the State Fire Chief's Con- vention, to be held in South Bend, Indiana, August 15-17, 1972. Miss Wynegar moved the Board grant the request, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Chief Berry recommended the Board promote Gerald Rigsby and Curtis Dillman from Pro- bationary Firemen to regular firefighters, effective July 30 and 31 , 1972 respectively. Miss Wynegar moved the Board approve the promotions as recommended, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. The Dog Warden submitted the following report: ( See attached report.) Mr. Judge moved the Board authorize a mercury vapor street light to be installed on an existing pole on South "B" Street at the alley between South 8th and South 9th Streets, since it was missed when the area was lighted several years ago, seconded by Mr. Benner and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Benner moved the Board refer a Barrett Law petition received in his office for a sanitary sewer extension on South 16th Street from South "L" to South "U" Streets , to the Engineer's Office, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
