HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-02-1972 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, MARCH 2, 1972 The Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session March 2, 1972 at the hour of 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building of said City. Mr. Judge presided with Mr. Benner and Miss Wynegar present. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Benner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Miss Wynegar, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Paul Miller, 400 Lincoln Street, submitted a petition carrying 32 signatures for 4-way stop signs at N. W. 4th, Randolph, Lincoln and Pearl Streets, explaining that many accidents had happened there recently. Mr. Benner moved the Board refer the petition to the Traffic Division for study and recommendation, seconded by Miss Wynegar, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Ernest Osborn, 1110 Harris Street and Robert Woods requested two street lights in the 1100 block of Harris Street because of vandalism. Mr. Judge said that the matter should wait until the Street Lighting Committee of Council has completed its new priority list. Mr. Judge reported that a woman had called him about holes left between the curb and sidewalk at 612 South 15th Street by Miller Pipeline, and that the matter had been taken care of. Police Chief Donald Strahan requested permission to:;send two police officers and a cruiser to accompany the Richmond High School basketball team to the Regional games. He explained that the City has done this annually and it has helped to cut down on possible trouble. The officers are off-duty. Miss Wynegar moved the Board approve the request, seconded by Mr. Benner, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Benner moved the Board approve a curb cut requested by Bill Tyndall for Tyndall 's Service Station at N.W. 5th and "L" Streets, Zoning and Traffic both having approved, seconded by Miss Wynegar and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Mr. Benner asked about the properties needed to start work on the North "E" Street Annex. Miss Wynegar explained that one of the properties has been acquired and the City is in process of acquiring the other.
