HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-30-1971 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 30, 1971 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session December 30, 1971 , at the hour of 9: 00 a .m. in the Municipal Building of said City . Mr . Cecere presided with Mr . Judge and Mr . Benner absent . The following business was had to-wit : 111 Mr . Judge moved to,.-approve the minutes of the previous meeting, seconded by Mr . Cecere, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . Mr . Lanman of Richmond Medical Supply, Inc . requested that two parking spaces in front of his establishment on North 9th Street be painted yellow in order to allow his customers to park there for short times . Mr . Cecere explained that the Board could not help his parking problem. Mr . Judge moved the Board order Richmond Power & Light to install a street light on an existing pole at South 16th Street and "I" Street, and 9 street lights on existing poles in front of the Huffman Plant on Industries Road, seconded by Mr . Cecere and on unanimous voice vote the motion` was carried . Mr . George Tripp, representing CATV asked the Board to release CATV from their performance bond . Mr . Cecere moved, that since the Performance Bond called for the installation and operation of a cable system, the conditions have been met and there is no further need for a performance bond, seconded by Mr . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . Police Chief Donald Strahan introduced Officer Hunter who had been promoted from probationary patrolman to full patrolman but had not been able to appear before the Board because he was attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy at the time . Fire Chief William Berry reported that ;the heating facilities in the No. FiFire House were still not functioning. Mr . Wilson- was contacted . Chief Strahan reported that there are three openings in the Police Department . Chief Strahan reported that three police officers had returned from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and all had passed in the upper half of their class . Chief Strahan reported that a police cruiser had been wrecked by a car pulling out in front of it, that the driver of the other car had been arrested for failure to yield , that he had pleaded guilty to the charge in City Court, and that he was working on collecting from his insurance company . Mr . Judge reported that the tax board had not yet acted on the appropriation for the police and fire cars and he moved that a new ordinance be submitted to Council for the appropriation, seconded by Mr . Cecere, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried .
