The installation of the new longer right curb lane from North "C" Street to North "A" Street -will provide _for a smoother, uninterupted flow of traffic and will help eleviate: congestion and acci - dents . Mr . Benner moved the Board . approve the . recommendation, seconded by Mr . . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . The Clerk presented proof of publication for South 13th Street reconstruction from South "L" to "0" Streets . Mr . Cecere examined the proof of publication and found it to be correct . Mr . Judge moved to- approve proof of publication, seconded by Mr . Benner, ' and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. . - • One bid was opened from.Magaw Construction ;Company for • $49, 935 .00 . Mr . Benner moved the Board refer the bid to the Engineer for study and recommendation, seconded by Mrs) Judge and' on unanimous voice vote the-.motion was carried. • The'.Clerk presented proof of publication- for a public hear- ing on Improvement' Resolution .No. 1096-1971 ; . curbs and gutters for South 4th Street from. "M" to "Q" Streets . - Mr . Cecere examined the proof of publication and found it to be correct . Mr : Judge moved to approve the proof of- publication seconded by Mr . - Benner , and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Several citizens appeared to speak in favor of the Barrett Law Improvement , no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were'. received . Mr . Benner moved the. Board confirm Improvement Resolution No. 1096.-1911 , and set the.- bid date for August 26, 1971 , at 9:.30 a .m. , seconded by Mr .' Judge, and on unanimous - voice vote the motion was carried . . The Clerk presented proof of publication for a public hearing for Improvement Resolution No. 1095-1971 , curbs and gutters for South 15th Street between "J" and "L" Streets , a Barrett Law improvement . Mr . Cecere examined the proof of • publication and found it to be correct — Mr . Judge moved the Board accept proof of publication, seconded by Mr .- Benner, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. Several citizens spoke in, favor of Improvement - Resolution No. 1095-1971 , and no remonstrators appeared and, no remonstrances were received . Mr . Judge moved the Board confirm Improvement Resolution No. 1095-1971 , and -set the date to receive-!bids August 26, 1971 , at 9: 30 a .m. ,. seconded by Mr . Benner , and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. • - The Board reset : the date for accepting bus. bids for August 26, 1971 , at 10: 00 a .m. , since- the bid opening had .not been advertised. • Chief Berry explained that the plumbing, hearing, and air . .conditioning in the No. 1- Fire Station was not working pro- perly . Mr . Wilson of Wilson and Terwilliger explained that the contractor went bankrupt after the work had been 95% complete and the 'bonding company has gone out of business . He recommended the City pay the repair bills it owes . Mr . Cecere explained that the City wi l l pay the bills as soon as the Court approves a petition to consolidate the bi l l s and absolves the City from further responsibility., since there ' are several law suits in the courts in this regard. Mr . Wilson suggested that the designer of the system decide what needs to- be. done to make. it work properly 'and that' he be allowed to. report back to the Board in two weeks . • Mr . Judge moved the Board set the date for opening bids for a new -No . 5 Fire Station for 'September 1 , 197.1 , at 10:00 a .m. , seconded by Mr . Benner, and ,on unanimous voice' vote, the motion was carried. Board of Works Minutes August 12, 1971 Page 3 Mr . Benner moved the Board accept the assessment roll for Improvement Resolution No. 1094-1971 , S .W. 18th Street Barrett Law improvement, and set the date for a public hearing for September 2, 1971 , at 10:00 a .m. , seconded by Mr . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . Mr . Benner moved the Board confirm the order of condemnation by the Building Commissioner against the property at 15172 North "A" Street, and authorize the Building Commissioner to advertise for bids to have the building demolished and a lien assessed against the property, seconded by Mr . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . Mr . Benner moved the Board confirm the order of condemnation by the Building Commissioner against the property at 100 South 25th Street, seconded by Mr . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried . The owner has agreed to have the building demolished within the next few weeks . Mr . Judge moved the Board confirm the order of condemnation by the Building Commissioner against the property at 426 South 4th Street and authorize the Building Commissioner to adver- tise for bids to have the building demolished, seconded by Mr . Benner , and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. The owner did -not appear in response to an order of the Board .
