CITY OF RICHMOND , INDIANA, MAY 20, 1971
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana , met in regular session May 20, 1971 , at the hour of
9: 00 a .m. in the Board of Works room of the Municipal Building
in said City. Mr . Cecere presided with Mr . Judge and Mr . Benner
present . The following business was had . to-wit :
111 Mr . Benner moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting,
seconded by Mr . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion
was carried .
John Whalen requested permission for the Harry Ray Post 65 ,
American Legion, to conduct fireworks on the 4th of July in
Glen Miller Park . Mr . Benner moved the Board approve the
request, subject to Park Board approval and to coordination
with the Police and Fire Departments , seconded by Mr . Judge
and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried .
Mr . Benner moved the Board:ihold under advisement the awarding
of the gravel contract for the Street Department , seconded by
Mr . Judge, and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried .
Mr . Benner moved the Board award the culvert pipe contract to
the Logansport Metal Culvert Company . Prices are on file in
the City Clerk ' s office. Mr . Judge seconded the motion and on
unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr . Judge moved the Board reject the only gasoline bid received,
and readvertise for bids to be opened June 3 , 1971 , at 9: 45 a .m. ,
seconded by Mr . Benner , and on unanimous voice vote the motion
was carried .
Mr . Judge moved the Board award the contract for asphalt to
McGaw Construction, Inc. and for hot mix to McGaw Hot Mix for
$12 . 90 per ton and $8. 75 per ton, seconded by Mr . Benner, and
on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr . Judge moved the Board authorize the closing of the City
Building Monday, May 31 , 1971 , for Memorial Day, seconded by Mr .
Benner , and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Mr . Benner moved the Board advertise for bids to be opened June
3, 1971 , at 10:00 a .m. for curbs and gutters on S.W. 18th Street,
a Barrett Law project, seconded by Mr . Judge, and on unanimous
voice vote the motion was carried .
Mr . Judge reported that a termite company is asking for permission
to conduct a house-to-house servey to ascertain whether or not
it wants to start in business in Richmond. Mr . Cecere explained
that the Board would neither allow nor disallow a survey,
but that tithe company -A s not allowed to sell without a permit .
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
passed, tl-e meeting was adjourned..
