CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 24, 1970
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, met in regular session ini:the Municipal Building, of
said City, December 24, 1970 , at the hour of 9:00 a .m. Mr .
Cecere presiding with Mr. Howell and Mr . Willis present . The
following business was had to-wit:
Mr . Howell moved to approve the minutes of the previous meeting
seconded by Mr . Willis, and on unanimous voice vote the motion
was carried .
Mayor Byron Klute reported that a :petition for a street light
has been forwarded to hem approved by the Street Lighting
Committee of Council , at 715 South 17th Street, to be installed
on an ixisting pole. Mr . Howell moved that a letter authorizing
Richmond Power & Light to install the street light as specified,
seconded by Mr . Willis , and on unanimous voice vote the motion
was carried .
Mr . Howell reported the following earnings on investments during
1970:

In addition to the above, fthe following investments were made
and interest earned on:

Mr . Howell explained that all investments earned would go back into
the fund from which the money was invested and none of it can be
spent without Council appropriation. He said it would mean a re-
duction of 4 .5c on the tax duplicate. Mr . Cecere complimented
Mr . Howell on establishing the program of short-term investments
and seeing it through .

Mr . Howell moved- the Board approve the acceptance of an offer
made to Shebang, Inc . , and accepted by" them, to purchase real
estate located in the 1900 block of West Main Street, as a site
for a new• No: : 5 Fire Station. The offered and accepted purchase
price is $24.,000 .00, subject, to .test bori ngs ' to, whether or not
soil conditions are suitable to the building of a two-way
drive-through fire station.

and passed, the meeting was adjourned .
