Board of Public Works and Safety
Richmond, Indiana
In the three (3 ) years that I have been a councilman I
have not asked for a light, however I would like to have a
street light installed on an existing wooden pole at the
alley on North 24th Street between North "E" and Glen Court .
Both the Maddox 2328 North "E" and the Jacobs at 2329 Glen
Court have requested this light since this area is at the
beginning of Glen Miller Park and is very dark . People
park there and throw garbage such as beer cans and bottles .
In addition to providing safety for bothethe Maddoxes and
Jacobs this light would discourage after dark parkers .
It would be appreciated if this one light could be expedited .

Mr . W. H . Berry, Fire Chief
Richmond Fire Department
Dear Chief Berry :
A survey was made and tests witnessed on the new radio-type
fire alarm system at Richmond on September 10 .
The radio-type box alarm system appears to meet the standards
of the National Fire Protection Association (#73-1967 "Standards
for the Installation, Maintenance and Use of Municipal Fire
Board of Works Minutes
September 24, 1970

Alarm Systems") for those items applicable to radio-type boxes
and headquarters apparatus except for lack of boxes in a few
high=value districts and in most residential and the lack of
indicating lights over boxes . The system is well maintained .
It is hoped that the additional tests and improved record
keeping mentioned during this survey will be inaugurated .
We appreciate the opportunity to study this system.
Yours very truly,
/s/ Robert Young
