Explanation: The City's goal is to acquire a demo stainless steel fire mini pumper truck in order to reduce cost of having a truck built. The City advertised the initial RFP on December 9, 2014. It was appended on December 16, 2014 in response to inquiries from potential bidders which increased the potential for more bid proposals. The closing date of the RFP was January 6, 2014. Although other vendors expressed an interest in submitting a proposal, the City received only one responsive bid, from HME, Inc.for $171,209. It appears that they would not be able to meet the January 30, 2015 delivery date. In addition,to providing a mini-pumper, HME, Inc. will certify our mechanics to perform service warranty work on the truck which will save the City money;for any warranty worked performed by the City, the City will be reimbursed for those costs. Funding:The fire mini pumper is financed with SPLOST 2014 funds. The budget for the capital item is$470,000 which includes $170,000 to acquire a mini pumper and $300,000 to acquire a fire engine;therefore, if the bid is accepted, the line item will require a budget adjustment of$1,209;thus reducing the budget for the fire engine to 298,791. The City is expecting two SPLOST 2014 checks from Chatham County for the collection months of October and November 2014 which total $122,427. The City estimates that the December SPLOST collection period will yield additional revenue of$61,000. The total money earned from SPLOST 2014 is $183,427. It is recommended that the general fund advance the money for this purchase and reimburse the general fund as the SPLOST 2014 revenue is received Budget Line Item Number(if applicable): Paper Work: X Attached* Already Distributed Submitted by:A.
