Please include a brief narrative as to why this person should be chosen as the Citizen of the year. All Applications must be accompanied by this cover sheet. He served as treasurer of the Elks Lodge, which has provided several grants to organizations in the City of Crestview. He is a member of the Crestview Kiwanis Club, and aided in the Hygiene Back to school drive this year for children of the City. He is a member of AMVETS, American Legion and VFW Posts in the City. He is also working as a polls worker for the Supervisor of Elections Mike has had a heart for Crestview, even before he moved here in 2010. When he was President of the Crestview Area Chamber he was a driving force behind the plans for the New Chamber Building and the groundbreaking was held during his term in office. He has been an honorary commander at both Duke Field and Eglin Air Force base, and during those times always promoted the City of Crestview. While attending various City functions and League of Cites events as a guest, Mike has always been a strong voice for the City of Crestview. He is a positive voice in the community for our City. They serve as a collection point for charities throughout the year and always participate in Back to School supply drives, toy drives, community events and more. The have particularly gone above and beyond for our local homeschool group, providing a meeting place free of charge and being so supportive of our young gamers. Hosted 24 hour Gaming Event Space for Extra Life for Kids charity fundraisers. Participated in Community Events including the community gaming day in 2019. Provides a safe space for our youth and LGBTQIA+ community. Helps the community during Back to School Supply drives every year and in Toy collection for the holidays. Valerie and Dave Hunt have built a safe gathering place for our community. They care deeply about our area and our citizens and are so supportive of our youth and our military population. They are just some of the the nicest and most supportive people in our town!
