and designer. He said the City has been saved approximately $35,000.00
in construction costs, $5,000.00 in contracting and planning, and from
$6,000.00 to $7,000.00 in design and inspections, contrary to procedures
in the past where these services were performed by outside contractors.
Mr. Jacobs said this savings has made possible the purchase of an
apartment house on No. "A" St. and of traffic signals. Mr. Cecere con-
gratulated the Engineer and the Street Commissioner for the job they
had done.
The Board set the next meeting for Wednesday, December 31, 1969, at
9:00 a.m. due to the New Year's holiday.
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
carried, the meeting adjourned.

BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, DECEMBER 31, 1969
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in the Municipal Building, December 31, 1969, at
the hour of 9:00 a.m. (est). Mr. Cecere presiding with Mr. Jacobs,
City Engineer present. Mr. Howell, City Controller, was absent. The
following business was had to-wit:

Mr. Jacobs moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be approved,
seconded by Mr. Cecere and on unanimous voice vote the motion was
carried.
Mr. Jacobs moved the Board execute a contract with B & B Mechanical
Contractors, Connersville, for a water treatment system for the City
Building air-conditioning apparatus in the amoutn of $525.9)4, seconded
by Mr. Cecere and on unanimous voice vote the motion was carried.
Sanitary Commissioner Ed Ross reported that the Christmas trees will
be picked up throughout the City on the following schedule:
Southeast - Monday
Southwest - Tuesday
Northeast - Wednesday
Northwest - Thursday
Residents should put their trees by their trash containers.
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
carried, the meeting adjourned.
