September is busy at the Senior Center! A Matter of Balance returns with
8 weeks of falls prevention tips and strength exercises; the Watertown SENIOR CENTER MONTH
Fire Department will begin a 3-week series on fire and life safety; we will
be hosting a Senior Charlie Card day; and we will be holding different presentations on Housing Options, Dental
Health, and what Rideshare is all about. Keep Fit with Joanna returns on Thursdays and Tai Chi with Marie and
Strength and Balance with Pearl return on Fridays.
Our Fall Trips are on Sale now. We will be taking our Senior Shuttle to Wayland for lunch and to the Christmas
Tree Shop in Natick, and we will be traveling with Fox Tours in October for a trip to Stockbridge and the Norman
Rockwell Museum, and a trip to Newport, RI for a holiday excursion.
As always, please share with us ideas for new programs and trips, and continue to check -in your attendance at
the My Senior Center kiosk when you enter the building. Please stop by and say hello to us at Faire on The

The Watertown Fire Department, in
partnership with the Watertown Senior
Center, will be providing a three-part
educational series on fire and life safety
for older adults.
In addition to valuable safety lessons,
each session will highlight a different
aspect of firefighting, complete with

Can MassHealth pay for my medical transportation?
If you are a MassHealth member, you may be eligible for non -emergency transportation to and
from your MassHealth covered services when you are unable to access public or private
transport. Services include but are not limited to doctors' appointments, counseling, and day
habilitation. If you have Springwell services, ask your Care Manager to fill out and mail for you
a Prescription for Transportation (PT-1) form on your behalf. You will receive a letter in the
mail informing you that your PT-1 has been approved or denied. If you're
approved, you will receive instructions on how to set up your transportation. If Watertown
denied, you will be given a reason for the denial and information on how to Nea/th
appeal it. To get more information, please call MassHealth Customer Service Department
Center at 800- 841-2900 or go to https://www.mass.gov/how-to/reguest- >,
transportation -for -a -member.

available? The Assessor's Office has options available to senior Watertown
homeowners for tax relief. I suggest you call their office at (617) 972-6460 to Thursday, September 26
discuss your concerns. The Senior Property Tax Work Off Program is an option 9:00 AM -11:00 AM
also. Homeowners age 60 and older who are retired and meet eligibility
guidelines, can apply through the Senior Center for this program that offers jobs Tuesday, October 15
in Town Departments for up to a $1,500 deduction. Call (617) 972-6490 for an 9:00 AM -12:00 PM

AVF7'` ° Senior Homeowners —Earn up to $1,500!
This program allows for up to ten seniors (age 60 and older) a $1,500 deduction
from their property tax bill in exchange for 125 hours of work for a Town
department, from July 1, 2019 until March 1, 2020.
Applications are available at the Senior Center or by calling (617) 972-6490.
Program begins July 1 for work in a Town Department through March 1, 2020.

It's that time of year again! If you are enrolled in a
Medicare Prescription Drug Plan or a Medicare
Advantage Plan (HMO/ PPO), you should be mailed an
information packet from your plan by the end of
September. It is important to understand and save this
information because it explains the changes in your plan
for 2020. Premiums, deductibles, co -pays, and the
drugs covered by your plan can change significantly
During the annual Medicare Open Enrollment, you will
have a chance to CHANGE your plan for next year.
SHINE Counselors can help you understand your plan
changes, as well as other options you may have. Call
soon to schedule your SHINE appointment during
the Open Enrollment, which from October 15

Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to
house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel
across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov,

worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic
room while some of the most tumultuous decades in
Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel's doors.
