RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE PASSAGE OF ASSEMBLY
BILL NO. 1161 TO REQUIRE THE STATE TO PAY FOR
ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS OF GENERAL PUBLIC
ASSISTANCE ADMINISTERED BY MUNICIPALITIES
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 1161 required the State to pay for administrative costs
of general public assistance administered by municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the current law related to the financing of this program discriminates
against municipalities which find it in their best interest to administer this program at the
local level; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret has found it is in the opinion of the governing body
that this bill is in the best interest of the citizens of the Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret:
1. That the Mayor and Council support Assembly Bill No, 1161 and urge its passage
by the New Jersey General Assembly.
2. That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the Assembly~voman Arlene Friscia and
Assemblyman John Wisniewski and State Senator Joseph Vitale.
