RESOLUTION NO. 5-2022
RATIFYING THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION OF MILITARY
EQUIPMENT FOR MEMORIAL AND/OR HISTORICAL DISPLAY
WHEREAS, The Parks Depaitnient Superintendent, on behalf of the City of Richmond as owner
of the Veterans Memorial Park, heretofore applied for and obtained from the United
States Army Tank-Automotive Command ("TACOM") an M60 Tank and Ml Mortar
pursuant to a conditional loan, the specifics of which are set forth in the materials
attached hereto as Exhibit "A", for display within the Veterans Memorial Park in the
Whitewater Gorge; and
WHEREAS, The City agreed to be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and safety of the
above-referenced donated equipment; and
WHEREAS, The Board of Parks and Recreation recognized the public good and benefit that will
result from the placement of the donated equipment within the Veterans Memorial
Park; and
WHEREAS, At a public Park Board meeting on EL 13, 2o2o , the Park Board approved
Resolution 3-2020 which authorized the acceptance of the above-referenced donated
equipment according to the terms and conditions of the conditional loan as is set forth
in the minutes of the Park Board; however, the City of Richmond, Indiana has been
unable to locate an executed copy of Resolution 3-2020; and as a result, must now
ratify Resolution 3-2020.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Parks and Recreation of the City of
Richmond ratifies its prior approval of Resolution 3-2020 for the placement, display, maintenance, and
upkeep of the equipment referenced herein, as well as in Exhibit"A"donated by the U.S.Army TACOM to
the City to be displayed within the Veterans Memorial Park.
