PROCLAMATION HONORING RENEE GAUDETTE

ON HER DEPARTURE AS THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE WATERTOWN BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB

District C Councilor
WHEREAS: Renee Gaudette, Executive Director of the Watertown Boys and Girls Club,
is leaving after nine years of service that began in 2013; and
John M. Airasian
Councilor At Large
WHEREAS: Renee began her association with the Boys and Girls Club as a "Club Kid",
Caroline Bays
and was part of their basketball program, later excelling in basketball at Watertown High
Councilor At Large
School, becoming a member of the Watertown Hall of Fame, and playing at Iona University,
a Division One School; and
John G. Gannon,
Councilor At Large
WHEREAS: Ms. Gaudette came full circle when she took the position of Executive
Anthony Palomba,
Director, which her father encouraged her to apply for and has excelled in her position

increasing membership, programming, and funding and has instituted many programs so
that she received the Executive of the Year Award in 2015; and
Nicole Gardner,
District A Councilor
WHEREAS: Renee oversaw renovations to the Club by creating an Education Lab and in
Lisa J. Feltner,
partnership with Bentley College, the Multi -Purpose Room; renovating the Gym floor; and
District B Councilor
initiating the dehumidification system for the pool; and
Emily Izzo,
WHEREAS: Ms. Guadette began the Swim Camp, introduced yoga classes, and
District D Councilor
implemented the Nature Campaign, Cops & Kids, and Back to School backpack and supply
giveaway programs; and
WHEREAS: Renee increased funding with the Great Futures Capital Campaign, she was
there when the building was renovated with a Teen Center increasing the membership; and
WHEREAS: During the pandemic, Renee provided meals to families that were impacted
and virtual programming; opened a remote learning site to assist children needing help and
internet access; and opening in the fall of 2022 the drop -in model.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of Watertown extends
its warmest wishes to
RENEE GAUDETTE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB
as she pursues her next opportunity.to
