No. 5-1968 (cont) Notice of this Resolution shall be published in a=newspaper of general cir- culation, published in the City of Richmond, once eash week for two consecu- tive weeks. Such notice shall name a date not less than ten (10) days after the last publication at which this Board will receive or hear remonstrances from persons interested in or affected by such proceeding. This Board shall consider such remonstrances, if any, and thereupon take final action, con- firming, modifying or rescinding its original resolution which action shall be final and conclusive on all persons.. /s/ Wm. Klute' s birthday, the Board wished a Happy Birthda BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SEPTEMBER 19, 1968 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the City Hall, September 19, 1968, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. (EST) . Mr. Hoskins presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Cecere and Mr. Ross. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Hoskins moved the minutes stand as read, seconded by Mr. Ross and on unanimous voice vote was carried. Mrs. Mary Hart, 122 South 22nd St. , reported to the Board that Mr. Softee Ice Cream Truck was creating quite a mess in ice cream cups and paper wrappers at South 22nd and "A" St. , as he parks there to dispense his wares. Mr. Goins was told by the Board to check this situation out. Stu Reller of the Planning Commission, told the Board of businesses infring- ing on public right of ways for display, and stated this is in violation of the Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Cecere told Mr. Reller to get a list of the names of people in violation and the City Attorney' s office will send them a letter. Police Chief Donald Strahan, told the Board that they had hired Mrs. Maxine Hines of 1903 New Paris Pike, for a crossing guard watchman at South 13th and "E" St. , and also stated that Mary Covington of 231 Richmond Avenue had been hired as a sub crossing guard watchman. Chief Strahan stated that the hiring of these two ladies brought the school crossing guard roster up to full strength. • Representative from the Westwind Pet Center asked the Board to rent part of the old fire station at South 9th & "E" St. to conduct a dog obedience school. Mr. Hoskins made a motion that this be denied as it would interfere withthe Richmond Ambulance Service, seconded by Mr. Ross and on unanimous voice vote was carried. Councilman Jack Elstro told the Board that lights are needed at the alley between South 3rd and South"P" Street near the Southview School. Mr. Hoskins stated that this would be checked out by the Light Plant. The following street lights were approved by motion of Mr. Hoskins, seconded by Mr. Ross and carried by unanimous voice vote. 113. Bd. of Works & Safety 9-19-68 North 15th St. , North "E" to No. "F" Sts. ;' install =2 South "0" St. , So. 8th to So. 9th Sts. , install -2 North 13th St. , No. "E" to Nd. "G" Sts. ; install -2 North 14th St. , No. "F" to No. "G" Sts. ; install -1 Mr. James H. -Maurer of 608 South 14th St. , asked the Board' s permission for a curb cut at this address. This has been checked out satisfactorily with the- Traffic Division and Mir. Cecere moved it be approved, seconded by Mr. Ross and on unanimous voice vote was carried. In regards to Councilman P. Marino' s question about Mrs. Bozarth of 1237 Sheridan Street, having a Pepsi-Cola machine one her front porch. Mr. Goins has checked this out and the people from Muncie are going to pick the machine up. The Clerk showed Proof of Publication on furniture for the new City Building. Mr: Cecere found Proof of Publication in proper form and recommended that it be filed, seconded by Mr. Ross and on unanimous voice vote was carried. . (EST) . Mr. Hoskins presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Cecere and Mr. Fienning. Absent: Mr. Ross. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Cecere moved the minutes of the previous meeting stand as read, seconded by Mr. Hoskins and on unanimous voice vote was carried. Dan Fienning of the Engineer' s Department served on the Board for vacationing Ed Ross. Chief of Police, Don Strahan, recommended that the following officers be appointed to the Police Department. September 26, 1968 Board of Public Works Attention: Joseph E. Hoskins, Pres. Gentlemen: I wish to recommend Joseph Albert Nimitz, age 27, and Harry Edward Todd Thompson, age 33, to be appointed to the position of probationary patrolmen on the Richmond Police Department. Mr. Nimitz and Mr. Thompson have passed all the necessary requirements, including both physical and mental examinations.
