We generally like to go as deeps as possible given the slope distance to avoid any future dredge or frac issues. For Flagler
Bridge in WPB we went 100’

I would want to be very deep under the river as it will be a prime location for pile driving in the future. The floating
docks even need guide piles. We had a lot of issues with FPL Feeder crossings in the Riviera Beach City Marina rebuild
last year. I had to stop the job as they were about to put one thru a cable.

It may be because they had planned a 10’ set back from the RR ROW for the building. That would make sense with the
numbers.

They have typically only need 40 feet total (for both sides), so they were not considering the railroad space for blowout,
or maybe they were only considering 10 feet of it versus 20 feet. The line going south down the tracks is framed on the
west side which causes them to need more right of way. They should frame the line on the east side for the portion
south of the river.
FYI….We worked for the City on all those small aluminum docks along the river in this area (in the bend to the
northwest, and on the east side of the railroad track.) I have walked this area not so long ago.

If I recall correctly, FPL was applying the blow out to both sides? Meaning the RR side. Not sure why.
We had discussed more structures to limit blow out

You can also reduce the blow-out by adding more structures.

There was an issue along the tracks with the allowable clearances that would eliminate about 30 ft of linear building on
that side.
Depending on constructability and where the bore has to run, it could run higher.

Why don’t they run along the railroad tracks, then cut back west to intercept the line? 4 poles, one might be a self
supporting pole at the corner where they would cut back to the west. 138 KV structures did cost around $40,000 each
with self supporting costing about $100,000. So maybe this would cost $250,000 plus removal costs. Underground will
cost $250,000 more or less for the bore, and probably another Million or more for the cable and cable termination
structures. And they will be running down the middle of your property. The last one I did was 1800 feet in the open, and
it cost 3 Million to put it underground. Same voltage, etc.

Good afternoon Danny,
rd
Recently we talked about a development in Fort Lauderdale along the New River near SW 3 Ave. This is being
spearheaded by Cymbal Development. I have copied the contact, Hector Torres here and attached his contact
information as well.
Basically, to make a long story short, they have been approved to move forward with the planning portion of a large
improvement project on the south side of the New River which will include relocation of the overhead transmission line
presently crossing the waterway and associated property. Many options have been discussed which Hector can fill you in
rd
on, but a couple include directional bore underneath the waterway or OH relocation of the TX line to SW 3 Ave with an
upper TX and Lower Distribution line.
FPL will be doing the engineering study based upon the agreed options and that is where Hector and Cymbal
Development need some help. Your understanding of the requirements, language and most importantly the process by
which these issues are gleaned out within FPL can assist greatly with moving things forward in an organized and efficient
manner.

I have given your contact information to them and you can expect a call very soon.
,
Regards
John Zoerhof
