HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-16-1967 v 7 Mr. Longer reported that he had made an investigation of the complaint of the Y.M.C.A. of causing a nuisance of trash being strewn on other people's property. Mr. Longer said that on his two investigations no violation was found® Mr. Jameson presented a copy of the letter that was sent to Mr. Raysor Thomas, owner of the property located at 1210 Boyer Street. The letter set out the date of March 9, 1967 at the hour of 10:00 a.m. for Mr. Thomas to appear before this Board to show cause why the order of Commissioner of Buildings hadn't been complied with in the matter of the condemnation of the structure located at 1210 Boyer Street. Mr. Thomas failed to appear as requested. Mr. Carver, of the Redevelopment Department, reported his findings on the complaints lodged by the neighbors near the location of this structure. The situation that now exists is a health menace as well as an eye-sore to the neighborhood. .4Cory, Mr. Keller moved the Board of Works -eerrfi-rm the order of the Commissioner of Buildings and further the Commissioner of Buildings proceed with the proper advertising and posting that is required by law to receive bids for the wrecking and removal of the structure located at 1210 Boyer Street. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. The Board authorized the City Controller to send a letter to the manager of the Vita-Fair Drug Store to remove a deposit box that is located on the sidewalk on the east side of said store. City Engineer Gehr stated that his office hasn't received a petition signed by 51% of the property owners who have expressed that a sanitary sewer be constructed on North 12th Street and also New Paris Pike. This project will heve to be constructed under the Barrett Bond system. Mr. Jameson presented the following street lighting installations: South.L to M St. So. 9th to 12th St. ESTIMATE NO. 3375 OPER.COST/LAMP/MO, TOTAL COST/MO. Install 6 - 250 Watt Mercury Vapor Pendant Type St. Lights $4.00 $24.00 Remove 4 - 4,000 Lumen Pendant Type Street Lights 2.35 9.40 Total Increase/Mo. $14.60 Mr. Gehr moved Estimate No. 3375 be approved, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Chief Stuttz presented the following whi.ch was read aloud: March 16, 1967 Board of Public Works & Safety Richmond, Indiana Gentlemen: Recommend with regret the Board accept the retirement of Officer Paul Cornelison. Officer Cornelison has been a good, hard working, loyal officer for 20 years. But ask that I give the Board the attached letter.- With the Board permission will have the records show Officer Paul Cornelison retired from the Richmond Police department March 15, 1967. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. . Mr. Jameson moved the City Attorney be authorized to prepare an Ordinance for Council's consideration to transfer the sum of $106,000.00 from the Cumula- tive Building Fund for the purpose of purchasing lands and improvements for the erection of a Municipal Building.. Thurlow Harter and two other young police. Officers attend the two day Emergency Add abd Transportation Institute for Police, Fireman, Attendants & Related Groups April 27 & 28, 1967 at Indianapolis,Indiana. Tuition fees are $7.00 per person. Weather permitting the officers can drive over each day, in city car. Meals will run approx, $2.50 each per day. Total cost $36.00 plus transportation.
