HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-19-1967 IL January 2, 1967. The flow of traffic warrants that the entire south side of Main Street between 7th and 8th Streets be entirely clear of parked vehicles. Mr. Keller moved that the parking of vehicles in the three parking spaces be prohibited and be posted with the proper "No Parking Anytime"signs, Mr. Jameson seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. The Board authorized the Clerk to prepare the advertisement to receive bids for Tree Removal in the City of Richmond,Indiana. The date that bids are to be received will be February 2, 1967. Mr. Keller moved that an ordinance be prepared for Council's consideration to transfer the sum of Six Hundred ($600.00) Dollars from General Fund Cash Operating to Police Department Budget Account No. L-29a, Auxiliary Police Equipment. The monies transferred is to be used to purchase boots, raincoats, etc. for the Auxiliary Police who perform service with real honor and distinction to the City of Richmond, Indiana. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Building Commissioner Calvelage presented the following was read aloud: TO THE BOARD OF PUBLIC. WORKS AND SAFETY January 12, 1967 OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA Gentlemen: On September 12, 1966, I entered an Order condemning a certain building or structure. on real estate owned by Mary M. Sasser at the Corner of West Elm and Walnut Drive in the City of Richmond, Indiana, fixing November 12, 1966 as the date by which the building thereon should be wrecked and removed. Two-thirds (2/3) of said structure has been wrecked. I hereby request that you cause notice to issue to the owner to show cause why the remaining third (1/3) has not been wrecked and removed. Sincerely, /s/ August H. Calvelage, Comm. Bureau of Buildings City of Richmond, Indiana Mr. Keller moved that a hearing date be set by the Building Commissioner requesting Mary M. Sasser, owner of the property involved, to appear before the Board to show cause why the order of condemnation hasn't been conformed with and further that a letter be delivered in person and also a registered letter be sent that sets out the date and time of hearing. The Building Commissioner set the date of January 19, 1967 at the hour of 10:00 o'clock a.m. for the hearing. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Keller. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Gehr moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being read aloud, seconded by Mr. Jameson and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Jameson and on voice vote was carried. . Install 39 - 400 Watt Mercury Vapor pendant Street Lights on Wood Poles $4.75 $185.25 After a lengthy discussion and careful consideration, Mr. Keller moved the above installations be approved and further Mr. Jameson notify the Light Plant of this action. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote -was carried. The Clerk presented proof of publication of Notice to Bidders printed in the Richmond Palladium-Item, a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Richmond, Indiana, on the dates of January 3-10, 1967. Said notice stated that sealed proposals would be received on January 19, 1967 for furnishing the Richmond Police Department III with three (3) 1967 model station wagons with trade-in allowance on two (2) Plymouth station wagons and one (1) 1965 Dodge station wagon, according to specifications on file in the office of the Police Department of Richmond, Indiana. . Mr. Keller examined the proof of publication and found the same to be correct and in order and moved the proof of publication be received and filed. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion ,j and on voice vote was carried. January 19, 1967 at the hour of 10:00 a.m. being the date and time designated to receive and open proposals received. The following proposals were opened and read aloud: Fred First, Inc. Wells Pontiac Kurdys Chevrolet, Inc. Mr. Keller moved the bids be referred to Chief Stultz and Mr. Jameson for tabulation, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Building Commissioner Calvelage reported to the Board that the property located at West Elm amd Walnut Drive owned by Mary Sasser is about two-thirds demolished by the owner. Mr. Calvelage gave an extension of 60 days from this date to complete the job by the owner. Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Keller. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Gehr moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being read aloud, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Councilman John Hilligoss and members of the Baxter P.T.A. appeared before the Board requesting that a crossing guard be hired for aiding school children across N. W. 3rd and Richmond Avenue. December 1, 1966, the Baxter P.T.A. requested the placement of an adult guard at said intersection. This request was referred to Captain Stout for study and recommendation. Captain Stout did on December 6, 1966 make a traffic survey and recommended to the Board of Works on December 8, 1966 that the request be denied. The Board concurred in the recommendation of Captain Stout. After hearing Mrs. Patricia Dalbey and Principal Mr. George of Baxter School, who spoke on the need of a crossing guard, Mr. Keller moved the request be reopened for further study by the Traffic Division and report badk their findings. Mr. Gehr seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Jack Green appeared before the Board in behalf of the Holy Family Church. IIIMr. Green stated that there is planned an expansion program to build a new church Oes:t.rof : he present Holy Family Church. Three properties will be effected. It is desired that the Board give approval to move the three homes that will be effected to new sites. The Board granted permission with condition that the Traffic.;Division be contacted as to what routes will be used, the dates that the moving of said houses will be in effect and also notify the utilities. Mrs. Ray Heiman, a representative of the Welcome Wagon, appeared before the Board requsting permission to erect signs on North and South U.S. #27 amd East and West #40. Mr. Gehr moved the request be granted with provision that the State Highway gives permission. This motion was seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice ; vote was carried. Chief Stul'iz presented the following tabulation of bids for three station wagons that were received January 19, 1967.
