Russell, Chief of Detectives of the Richmond Police Department, presented the following letter in behalf of Chief Stultz who was not present. The following letter was presented and read aloud: September 15, 1966 Board of Public Works and Safety Richmond, Indiana • Gentlemen: . Request permission to have Denzel Williams, age 25, appointed to the Richmond, Indiana, Police Department as a probationary officer. Mr. Williams has passed all the requirements necessary to become a probationary officer on the Richmond Police Department. With the Board' s permission will have the records show that Mr. Williams will be placed on the Police Department payroll October 1, 1966. Respectfully, /s/ Bert B. Russell Chief of Detectives Mr. Keller moved the aopointment of Denzel Williams as Probationary officer to the Richmond Police Department as of October 1, 1966, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on' voice vote was carried . Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Gehr and Mr. Keller. The following business was had to-wit: Mr. Gehr moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being read aloud, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Gehr presented Assessment Roll No. 1073-1966 for the improvement of the alley between Lincoln and Pearl Streets from N.W. 3rd to N.W. lath Streets by con= struction the full width of said alley with concrete. Mr. Gehr moved the adoption of Assessment Roll No. 1073-1966, and further the date of October 13, 1966 at the hour of 10:00 a.m. (est) be the date and time for a public hearing. Mr. Keller seconded this motion and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Robert Goens presented a form letter that had been prepared as requested by the Board of Works to be distributed to all commercial establishments in an effort to keep the city clean of garbage and refuse. Mr. Keller examined the form letter and moved the Board approve the same to be delivered to all commercial establishments, seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice vote was carried. Mr. Goens stated that the Sanitary Department will assist him in making the deliveries of these forms.
