BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE - -
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 4, 1966
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in
regular session in the City Building, Thursday, August 4, 1966 at the hour of 9:00
o'clock a.m. (est). Mr. Jameson presiding with the following members being present:
Mr. Gehr and Mr. Keller. The following business was had to-wit:
Mr. Gehr moved the minutes of the previous meeting be approved without being .
read aloud, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried.
Mr. Gehr moved the claims be allowed and paid, seconded by Mr. Keller and on
voice vote was carried.
Fire Chief Fredricks requested permission to send William Berry and Larry Bosell
to a Fire School to be held at Ohio State University the week of September 12, 1966.
Mr. Gehr moved the request be granted, seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was
carried.
The Board requested the Fire Chief to make an investigation of the request for
a fire hydrant at the north end of North 36th Street. The Board of November 14, 1963
approved the recommendation of former Chief Klotz for the fire hydrant but the order
was never carried out.
Police Chief Stultz requested permission to send two members of the Police Depart-
ment to the Bendix Automobile Investigating of Braking and Steering Equipment School
to be held for one day in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Gehr moved the request be granted,
seconded by Mr. Keller and on voice vote was carried.
Chief Stultz presented the following which was read aloud:

This is to say that I resign from the Richmond, Indiana Police Department, as of
this date.

Gentlemen:
Recommend that the Board accept Officer William E. Brown's resignation.
Officer Brown came into Headjuarters, and turned in his equipment. He asked
that I write him a simple letter of resignation. That he was quitting to take
other work.
Officer Brown did not report for work Tuesday, August 2, 1966. With the Boards
permission willpay him for August 1, 1966 only on the next pay.

P.S. Officer Brown was appointed Feb. 18, 1953.
Mr. Gehr moved the resignation of Officer William E. Brown be accepted and further
he be paid for the day of August 1, 1966. Mr. Keller seconded this motion and on voice
vote was carried.
Mr. Gehr presented a request to cut the curb at North 16th and "J" Streets for a
driveway for Robert Robinson. Mr. Gehr moved this request be granted, seconded by Mr.
Keller and on voice vote was carried.
Mr. Jameson reported the following property owners have been presented with the
five day notice to cut the weeks: John Saunders, 911 North "G" Street; Robert Smith,
318 North 4th Street; James Parks, 1300 South76th Street, Bert Glazer, 410 South 22nd
Street; J. B. Johnson, 623 N.W. "L" Street; John Robbins, 918 Liberty Avenue and Luther
Hunter, 918 North 15th Street.
Mr. Jameson requested that the sum of $300.00 be appropriated from Board of Public
Works and Safety Budget Account J-10, Services Contractual, Repair of Buildings -and
Structure, to Board of Public Works and Safety Budget Account J12-c, Services Contractual,
Weed Control, all within the same calasification.

Mr. Keller moved that a resolution be prepared to make the above appropriation and
be presented to the Common Council. This motion was seconded by Mr. Gehr and on voice ,
vote was carried.
Mr. Jameson presented the following Street Lighting Estimate:
South J between 12th & 13th Street
ESTIMATE NO. 3228 OPER.COST/LAMP/MO. TOTAL COST/MO.
Install 1 - 250 Watt Mercury Vapor Pendant
Street Light on Wood Pole $4.00 $L1.00
Mr. Keller moved Street Lighting Estimate #3228 be authorized, seconded by Mr.
Gehr and on voice vote was carried.
There being no further business presented on motion duly m de seconded and carried,
the meeting adjo ed.
